Yes. It was the perfect fit for my 1997 Mustang.

Is this part compatible with a 1983 Jeep CJ-7?

I'm not sure if it will work, but I had to make a few modifications to make it work on my Jeep. I recommend that you remove the switch and pear it together.

Is this compatible with the headlight switch on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler?

The chances are good. This was a perfect fit for my 1997 Jeep Wrangler.

For Dodge trucks from the first generation

If you've got a 91, it'll work. The back two wires on a 93 first-gen Dodge, like mine, will be doubled up. Simply strip them, twist them together, and connect them to the connector's one wire counter part.
