The factory mirror works as it should. I bought this item to make sure that I could use my 10" dash cam with the mirror as my 10" factory mirror won't allow it. I am sitting in front of my mirror as it's at idle. This flailed so badly that I was unable to wear it at all - it was so useless. Simply sitting still is a lot of work! There are about three times as many repositions to be made on my OEM mirror as there are on this one. There is nothing useful about the ball and socket in this mirror.
I had to remove the original mounting plate and glue the replacement on in order to make my project successful. This is a real pain! This is not the same for all of them. It is not a mounting system I am buying, it is a mirror replacement! There is an extremely light feeling to the mirror, so I am left wondering if it is plastic or glass.

Amazon did not respond to my letter, so I will return it and purchase a different model from a different company.
On a Mazda Miata, this is an excellent replacement. Installs quickly and easily. I found removing the original mirror to be the most difficult part of the project. You're going to have a hard time with that. It is really required that you use a long, thin screwdriver to push the release button. The only negative I can say about this mirror is There is a lot of vibration going on. It doesn't take long for you to adjust, I suppose. Although your brain averages out the shaky rear-view image, you still feel the jitter. The mirror is not as good as the original one, but I'm not sure where or what is loose. Although prices there were pretty hard to beat, the service was pretty good. As a whole, I'm happy with it.
My first attempt went well, it was easy - I only had to remove the old mirror and replace it with this, it took a few minutes. A very good purchase at a much lower price than you can find at the local auto parts store.
It appears very sturdy and good, however it is very small compared to the OEM mirror on my Hyundai Elantra GLS.
