The installation requires a strong hand, but it is secure once completed. The plastic, however, is brittle, and it breaks every few years. Since 2005, I've completed four.
On my 2005 GMC Yukon XL, the clip snapped. Many years of extreme summer heat are most likely to blame. These replacements work flawlessly and were installed in under five minutes. The installation does not necessitate any special skills. Two tabs that can be manipulated with a very thin screwdriver or barrow putty knife; don't use your favorite pocketknife; just enough torque to break the tip of a thin blade is required.
It was incredibly simple to set up. From the time I got a flat head screw driver to the time I closed the door after the installation, it took about 10 minutes. It was a perfect fit for our suburban from 2001.
These are identical to the originals, and they only took about 5 minutes to swap out. The most difficult part was determining the part number for these items so that I could begin looking for them.
My 2004 Yukon XL had it installed in no time. This was something I should have done a year ago. Both middle seats had their latches replaced.
It fits perfectly in our Yukon Denali XL and works flawlessly. I'm overjoyed that the latches are working again. I followed another reviewer's installation instructions. Pry the two latches holding it in place with 2 butter knives under the top and bottom, then pull it out and replace it with the new one. It only takes two minutes to complete.
For my 2003 Yukon, this was the ideal part. The latch on the second set of seats had been broken for a long time, but it was now fixed. I had some difficulty removing the old part, so I simply broke it into smaller pieces. Make sure you don't break the mechanism that holds the new part in place if you do this.
Following the removal of the damaged component - It only took a minute to put this together. It really works.
