This console is designed to allow you to access the "deep" part of the center of the console by pushing it forward in the space. You can't easily maneuver it back so you can get to the organizer when it's pushed forward. There is nothing impossible about it, but there is nothing simple about it. As a result, you are not able to "grip" the organizer and pull it back toward you because of the little cutout. A little half-power can make a world of difference I think it would be easier to hold if the cutout circles were turned around. The only small issue with this is that it interferes with the rearview mirror. Otherwise, it's a nice addition to the car that makes a big.
Trays are just flat surfaces used to hold things. It would have been a shame not to include these as standard equipment with the model 3.
