I only gave it four stars because it was overpriced for what it was, but it appeared to be an OEM part and was exactly what I needed to repair the broken console latch on our 2018 Chevy Tahoe SLT. br>br>I watched a YouTube video on how to open and disassemble the lid, which was stuck closed due to the broken part, and it was fairly simple to remove the upper trim to get to the screws, which I did with a flathead screwdriver. Just keep in mind that simple is best. If you apply too much force, the snaps that hold the cover in place will most likely break. I haven't done this in a few weeks, but I seem to recall that I needed a ten (?). For the screws, you'll need a) a hex drive. If I'm mistaken, someone please let me know. br>br>Like the one I replaced, it was made of chrome plastic. Lemon squeezy, squeezy, squeezy, squeezy, squeezy, Since the previous one broke under normal use, I'm not sure how well this one will hold up in the long run, but at least we were able to repair it for less than $50.
We looked everywhere for a replacement latch for my Yukon and couldn't find one that looked good, was easy to install, and fit perfectly. Our GM dealer's parts department informed us that we would need to purchase the entire lid to the console. It cost $600 to do so. For $30, we were able to locate the exact component we required. It brightened my mood! This was the chrome handle, and this was the bezel. assembly of the latches.
I must say, I'm blown away. I didn't hold out much hope for it, but it is perfect for my 2014 Silverado. This mechanism needs to be redesigned, or at the very least made more accessible to consumers, by GM. This product was only discovered through a troubleshooting video, which he linked to down below. Other than autopartscheaper, I couldn't find one. com, and I've had a bad experience with them. Gmgenuineparts, I believe, would be a better fit. com. Anyway, I'll stop ranting now. Make certain that you have trim removal pieces before attempting to replace it on your own. Under no circumstances should you attempt this with a flat head or whatever you have on hand. I used a trim removal kit to do mine, and I can't imagine anyone else doing it without destroying the interior. This is a fantastic piece that fits perfectly.
When I called GM/Chevy, they told me that the only option for my wife's 2018 Suburban Premier was to replace the entire center console for $700. I found this replacement, which was incredibly easy to put together and works and looks just like the original. It's also packaged in GM Parts packaging, so it appears to be OEM. If you need to replace the handle release, I'm guessing dealerships are charging for the entire part and only replacing this part. I highly recommend ordering this if you need to replace the handle release. Removing the plastic undercover of the center console lid was the most difficult part of the installation, which took 5 minutes.
My 2015 Tahoe's center console lid's plastic latch had broken. Gravity held and "locked" the console lid in place due to the design, making it difficult to open without it. When I went to the Chevrolet dealer, they only offered me $230 for the entire lid. They were kind enough to tell me that this broken part could be found online for a fraction of the price, and that a YouTube video could show me how to remove and replace it (which was very simple). DO NOT BUY THE WHOLE LIDS, AS THIS PART CAN BE REPLACED AND WORKS JUST LIKE NEW. I'm not sure why it broke in the first place, so I purchased two.
Part was good, but it was a little pricey, so I deducted a star for that. However, I was able to repair my console that had been broken. It has chrome to match the interior of the Denali. These are well-known for their tendency to break. Another GM subpar part--it's nice to know where I can get one if I need one in the future.
This was a slight upgrade over the black plastic part because it was chrome.
It was just delivered to me. It looks and feels exactly like the one I'm replacing, and it's even more powerful. It took me about 5 minutes to complete this task. It's simple to replace and it works great. I was told that I needed to purchase the entire lid from the dealership. If you need a replacement center console latch, this is the one. I never asked how much that would cost, but I'm sure it was a lot more than this.
