Piano black plastic on the shifter has always been an irritation for me, so I chose a carbon fiber cover to cover it. My first step was to clean it with rubbing alcohol and then warm it up with a hair dryer after installation. I decided to order more pieces after this good impression. It makes the piece a little thicker since there is now a plastic over the original but it holds up good after 24 hours.

This is the engine I used in my 2020 Forester. The fit is perfect, but the mount is not slim. Along the edges, you will feel the plastic edging as well as a gap. Maybe thin adhesive strips would allow it to mount closer to the wall. I really like this look, but it feels cheap because of.
