I bought these to replace the clearance lights on my RV. They seem well-made and bright at first glance. When attempting to install the lights, a major design flaw was discovered. My RV wiring harness needs to be centered behind the clearance light in the holes where it goes through the wall. The wires coming out of the mounting plate on one of the corners is a problem with these lights. When the wires are run behind the mounting plate to the existing holes on my rv, the lights will not sit flush against the wall because they are resting on the wires. The wires cannot be run behind the mounting plate because there is no dead space or bulkhead. The mounting plate is flush with the wall and does not protrude. This was a deal breaker for me, and I didn't want to put up a wall of butyle tape behind the light just to get the wires in. br>br>The next issue (assuming you were successful in installing them) is water damage prevention. If you drilled a hole in your rv wall to match the wire position on these lights, water leaking behind these lights will almost certainly cause major water damage. I had to wait a few weeks to get these installed, and now I'm unable to return them. I looked at all of Partsam's other marker lamps, and they all seem to have the same issue. br>br>These might work in some cases, but they're far from perfect. For target practice, they might be useful.
It was not expected to be of high quality. The number of LEDs in the parts was not what was expected. As a result, it's impossible to use it as a stand-in for something else in a unique application. The potting of the leds was abysmal. Color balance and illumination have not been tested, but if installed on the same side of a long trailer, the differences may be insignificant. However, it will comply with the law's requirements.
These led marker lights are excellent value for money; they are bright and work well. As others have noted, the wiring is not in the center but offset to the end; I assume this is to prevent water from entering the unit. Another flaw, and the main reason I didn't give it a five-star rating, is that the lenses don't come with a built-in reflector, so if your state requires them, as it does on the back, you'll have to add your own or use reflector tape like I did on the corners.
I installed these on my camper trailer and the only problem I had was with the wiring exit point. I took the led board out of the light base, drilled a new hole in the back center, rerouted the wire, and reattached it to the light base with adhesive. There are no issues with the lights working as they should.
These lights are attractive, bright, and exactly what I needed for my motorhome's rear clearance lights. I'm very happy! I'm hoping they last a long time, as the manufacturer is well-known.
My RV collided with something and a red lens was broken. These were standard in size and shape, but the lens was not interchangeable. However, changing the entire unit was not a problem.
Simply ensure that the positive is connected to red and the negative is connected to black. Condescend lights, on the other hand, are not polarity sensitive.
I bought a bunch of these last year to rewire our horse trailer, and I just ordered more because the horses like to eat/break them. The lights perform admirably; they are bright and simple to install, as well as being of good quality and low cost.
