Questions & Answers

Why won't they work if I connect the white positive and black negative directly? I tried a couple of them, right?

The WHITE wire is the ground, while the BLACK wire is the positive, or hot wire. They work fine; connect the red to the black on the light and the black to the white on the light if you have a black and red wire on your trailer or whatever you're connecting them to. br>br>I hope this information is useful!

What is the mounting hole's diameter?

a 3/4-inch hole Because the lense throws a little more light to the left and right sides, the light is labeled "top." Because the light wiggles a little in a 3/4" hole, I used a dab of silicone to keep it in place.

Is there a way to find out how much power these suckers use? I'd like to use a LM7809 chip for both running (dim 9v) and stopping and braking (full voltage). ?

I noticed in some of the customer photos of disassembled units that there is a resistor marked 221 in series with the LEDs, which would be 220 Ohms. The forward voltage drop of each of the three internal LEDs would most likely be 1. 8 to 2. 0 VDC. For 1. Eight volts multiplied by three equals a total of eight volts. 4V. Calculate the current in Amps by subtracting this from the battery voltage and dividing by 220. Using a 12 volt battery that has been fully charged. 6V is the equivalent of 7. The result of 2V divided by 220 is. 033A. If the forward LED voltage is closer to 2, it means that the forward LED voltage is higher. If the voltage is 0 volts, the current is 6. The result of dividing 6V by 220 is. 03A. When the Tow Vehicle charges them to 13, the lights should become noticeably brighter and draw more current. 5VDC. 5V - 4V = 8. The result of dividing 1 volt by 220 ohms is 036A. I hope this information is useful to Amazon nerds like me. Some people have asked if they could connect two lights in series; this could be done, but the brightness and current would be drastically reduced (nearly half). Take 13 as an example. 5 - 2+8 = When you divide 7V by 220, you get only. While driving, 012A (one-third of the current) is passed through the lights.

Is it possible to use a strobe light with them?

I've used them as strobes and they work great as long as the voltage is correct; I've also used them in large quantities as blinkers and hazards and they work great. I'm not sure what the other answers mean about them not lasting long. I've had a few that died, but out of the hundreds I've installed, maybe ten have died right away.

ONLY 6 MONTHS OF WATERPROOFING - Use of a boat trailer in saltwater corroded the metal
3/5

For about 9 months, these have been on my boat trailer. I've had a light go out every three months or so for the past three months. About once a month, I use my boat trailer. I'm a big fan of these tiny lights. They have a great appearance, are easy to work with, and are pleasant to handle. They appear to be well-made, as you can see by the epoxy poured down the back where the wires are located. To me, that appeared to be watertight. Saltwater, on the other hand, found its way into the led lights, and they stopped working. You can pop out the epoxy and LEDs from the colored housing by pulling hard enough on the wires. But be cautious! The sharp angles of the epoxy slashed me pretty hard. As a result, you'll have to pull, break, or strip the wires if the band-aid doesn't pop out. After separating the units, I discovered that the LEDs themselves are not coated in any way. My proposed solution is as follows: I removed the epoxy and LEDs from the old housings and replaced them with new ones that were not corroded, then reseated the electronics and coated the electronics with fresh epoxy. We'll see how it goes. br>br>In this image, you can see the guts of these lights. You'll see a perfect light that hasn't been corroded, as well as some that have been corroded. With my potential fix, I'll have to replace 8 in my trailer. That's something I'm going to do this weekend. I broke about ten new lights trying to pry the housings off so I could epoxy coat the lights. EDIT: br>br> It's been a year since we've last seen each other. I was able to make my little trick work. Since then, the lights have been working flawlessly.

These are decent little lights that are bright enough for their price
3/5

The word "Top" is mentioned in a few other posts, and with that in mind, I made sure to follow that when I installed them for a garage-built light bar for my truck's roll bars. That word has an effect; it causes the lights to illuminate in a horizontal manner. One of the only three issues I had was that I drilled the holes for the grommets to fit into at 3/4" in diameter, as suggested by other posts. They went well, and the light snaps in nicely, but they don't stay in place very well. They are pushed out by even the tiniest amount of pressure. So, if you want to make the hole a little smaller, do so. Second, the wires coming off the back are protected by a rubber sleeve, which is great for protection but prevents the wires from being bent and staying in place, so putting these in a small area with limited space for a post creates a real problem when it comes to grommet holes. Last but not least, I had two broken red lights. Before working with them, I tested them all with a 9 volt battery, and those two didn't light up. For the record, black is your positive wire because it isn't noted or marked, and there aren't any instructions or anything. White is the opposite of positive.

Five out of five stars
3/5

I would buy these again because they have good quality rubber rings around them and are well sealed. UPDATE. I've had these lights for about 6 months and have installed 27 of them on my truck. I've blown every single one of them, some of them twice. One of them even caught fire in the aluminum rail, and it wasn't due to a short; the fire started in the light, and I double-checked my wiring. If you only plan on installing about ten of them and running around town, don't do it; he'll spend more time replacing these lights than you're happy with. Thank you.

Burn Out on the Cheap THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED BELOW
3/5

br>br>Three red lights have already gone out on me! Within an hour for one, and a day for the other two! I'm a small business owner who had these professionally installed on my 53-foot trailer. It's absurd that three LED lights failed so quickly. And now I'm stuck paying to have them redone! Not cool! br>br>No one from Amazon or the Seller has contacted me about the issue with these lights to date! I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.

Yikes
3/5

Many of these have been used by me. SO MANY. Several trucks and a gooseneck trailer are involved. They appear to be in good condition at first, but after three months, you might as well start carrying a bag of extras. They perish in the light and on the left. I'm probably going to lose two. After that three-month mark, three a week.

Bright! These have a nice color to them, so I used them all over my son's power wheels to a) make it more fun for him and b) make it safer and more visible for him
5/5

The pigtails' wiring is painted in a contrasting color scheme. I think it's intuitive, but all 30 of them together use a surprisingly small amount of energy. Grommets prevent holes from forming in the fabric. Drilling is very forgiving, and the fit is very good.

NICE ADD- TURNED ON FOR LIGHTING

THESE LIGHTS WERE EXTREMELY BRIGHT WHEN WE INSTALLED THEM. THERE WAS ONLY ONE PROBLEM: (3) RED, (4) YELLOW, AND (4) CLEAR DIDN'T WORK. APART FROM THAT, THEY WERE PERFECT. RIGHT NOW, WE'RE WONDERING IF WE SHOULD ORDER MORE. A REPLY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Although there was one defective bulb in the package, I've been pleased with it so far
4/5

For the price, the lights are of reasonable quality and are well-sealed. My only gripe is that one of the white LEDs did not work when I bench tested all 30 before installing them. When I contacted the company about replacing the faulty light, they requested proof in the form of photos. Unfortunately, Amazon's messaging center in the app makes it difficult to send photos, so I'll have to post them here. I find it mildly irritating that requesting one replacement bulb for a defective one out of 30 requires so much proof, but that is why I only gave them four stars. I may return to provide an update after they've been in service for a few months.
