Questions & Answers
All JK models should be able to use it. On my 2012 Sahara, mine was a perfect fit.
Yes, the grille must be taken off. It's not difficult; simply pop the hood and undo the plastic body panel tabs that run along the top of the grille; then disconnect or remove the marker lights and pull from the bottom of the grille. You should be good to go once you hear some metal tabs release. After that, it's just a matter of unscrewing four screws to remove the OEM headlight bezel and replace it with these. br>br>If you have the right tools, it should only take you 10 minutes to complete. It appears to be a T15 (Torx 15).
They will, in fact.
Yes, it is an ideal match.

However, at the 8, they do create some limited light spots. Positions a/b 10 feet out at 4 o'clock. When you're moving, it's much less noticeable, but it's still there. Because I put them on Truck-It, I'm not sure where they are. On my 2016 Jeep JK Unlimited, I installed Lite style aftermarket lights. Because the lights I installed are thicker than the stock lights, I had to use longer screws than the ones that came with the fixtures, but they're now functional. The biggest issue I had was because of the thickness - I had to cut a tiny half moon shape in the grill around the lights for two screw heads (the outside top and bottom screws, of the four screw positions, were less than an 1/8 of inch deep - Mistakes on the grill can be seen in the last picture. Prior to cutting, make sure everything is in place. The grill could then be reinstalled in the proper position - The cut can't be seen at all. I'm ANNAL a/b things like this now that it's out! D Take a look at the photos and tell me what you think; I agree with the other commenter that these guards are unlike anything else on the market for a long time. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 because they have a hard time fitting newer/thicker lights (which isn't their fault; they say they fit "most" lights) and they cut a little light when stationary, but they're WAY COOL looking. For some reason, it also reminds me of the previous image?.
They look nice, but they break easily during installation, as the title suggests. You don't realize you've already broken the tab from this frame when you overtighten the screw on the headlight. I had to jb weld it back together, but wow, that was a botched first installation. I understand that certain things should not be overtightened or torqued, but this snapped before the screw was even fully seated. Keep in mind that while the frame appears to be made of metal, the tabs are made of plastic.
The quality of the material is acceptable. I only have a few minor complaints, but it's probably better than most I've read about online. The latches, through which the screws pass, are the first. As I was securing them, I noticed one of them had snapped. I wish the material in that area was more durable. Parts breaking during installation is the last thing you want to see. The instructions were the second issue. The existing piece must be taken out. It's not going to fall down. I wish the instructions for that were more clear; it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. Apart from that, it's an excellent product.
Because these are made of cast aluminum, I'm curious as to how the tabs on the other reviews broke off. One idea is to tighten each screw one at a time. I replaced the old screws with stainless 6 x 1" pan heads because they were rusted out. br>br>It also came with a helpful set of instructions - It's ideal for first-time Jeepers like myself!.
They're made of powder-coated metal (possibly an aluminum alloy?). In any case, they look great and fit perfectly. Many upgrades are being installed, but here's a picture of the guards that have been installed (just pretend not to notice the rest of the work). )br>br>Sorry, it appears that Amazon no longer allows images.
These are fantastic! They're sturdy, with a nice textured finish, and they're ridiculously simple to put together - Remove the four screws that hold the original bezel in place, replace it, and tighten it down with the four screws that came with it. At the same time, I purchased some new LED headlights and installed them on top - They enhance the appearance of my 2016 Jeep JKU (jeep).
They look great, but they're not built to last. One of the screw-holding tabs snapped off while I was installing them. I didn't put much effort into it. I was planning on purchasing rear guards as well, but I'm not sure now. Instead, steel will most likely be used.
Because of the perfect fit and construction material, installing the headlight protectors was a breeze. Interference or breakage is not a problem. Rugged Ridge, thank you so much. It is highly recommended!.
