I can't say enough about how great this H7 Retainer Clip for the BMW 3-Series is. E46 is a series. These were recommended to me, and they perform exactly as described, if not better, than other similar products. Because of the need for heat dissipation, I've discovered that an H7 LED upgrade necessitates a larger bulb body. These adapters have a thicker base, allowing the bulb to fit more snugly into the retaining ring. I tried two more adapters, but they didn't work because they were thicker. If you want a good fit, make sure your bulb's width is smaller than the adapter's inside width. Another piece of advice is to look for an LED bulb upgrade that has a power cord in the middle rather than on the edge. Edge cords can be used, but be careful not to damage the wiring. br>br>This is a product that I strongly recommend.
I'll get right to it. br>Installation is difficult, and you must have prior experience. When I was putting my new lights in place, I dropped some parts, and reaching down to pick up the small plastic ring wasn't much fun. br>Next, this product is a must-have; it's well worth the money and makes a significant difference. This was not included in the box of the LED lights I purchased to replace my low beams. I made the mistake of attempting to install them, only to discover that I require this clip. I tracked it down, purchased it, and put it in place. It really works. I really like how the final product turned out. br>br>When installing this into its ring, I would advise you to be cautious. The final step is the most difficult to complete. Where the plastic ring must be pushed, twisted, and clipped onto the clear frame behind the light's hole. br>br>When working on your E46 BMW, you should be cautious because the majority of the vehicle is made up of plastic parts that BMW overpriced.
The locking mechanism appears to be in good working order, and there are foam cushions that absorb the slack when the locks are turned. br>br>In comparison to the Silverstar halogen bulbs I replaced, the GTR CSP Minis appear to put out a good amount of light. br>br>In my setup, there is one caveat: I 3d-printed everything. To keep the led bulbs in place, I printed spacers to go between the mounts and the bulbs. Whatever led bulbs you use, you'll almost certainly need to devise a way to keep them firmly attached to the mounts. They'll lock into the headlight assembly once you've got that figured out. Owners of E46s equipped with GTR CSP Minis will also require.
High beams work well in the 2001 325i with factory xenon. It's a little tricky figuring out how to fit LED's into the adapter, then the adapter into the headlight housing, but once you figure it out, fitment is perfect. I found that removing the LED plastic from the LED, fitting the adapter and LED plastic into the high beam housing, then fitting the LED bulb into the adapter works best. br>br>There's no play in the bulb at all, and everything fits snug, for the price, it works very well!.
If you have a bulb with a wire coming out of the back, you'll be fine. It's also a little loose on an e46 m3 (standard halogen lights). However, with a little cutting and tape, it can be made to work in a pinch. I eventually returned mine, but I wanted to share this with you.
These bulbs do not "clip" or "snap" into a 2004 E46 headlight assembly, and they do not even reach the housing. Don't waste your money on a retrofit headlight kit or a new one-piece assembly. . . they're both a waste of money.
They squish the wire down, so it's a little tricky. I wish there was a slot for the wire to pass through, but it can be stuffed in. They hold up well but become brittle over time, so get them in the right position while they're still strong and don't mess with them.
I was able to install my LED lights on my BMW E46 325CI. It depends a lot on the type of led and the type of disipador you have, but I tried a few different types and they all worked. Without a doubt, I would purchase the same item.
