Selected User Reviews For Bushwacker 15002 Black Trail Armor Hood Scoop with Textured Finish for 1998-2018 Jeep Wrangler
The scoop is well-made, but the way it attaches to the jeep isn't to my liking. It would be nice to be able to remove the scoop if it is mounted with the opening facing the windshield so that any debris that accumulates can be removed. The ability to remove or reposition the scoop would elevate this review to a five-star rating. Magnetic tape, rather than 3m adhesive tape, could easily be used to accomplish this.
Fits a Jeep Wrangler from 2001 well. Instead of gluing it down with the supplied/applied double stick tape, I used rare earth magnets adhered to the double back tape on the four corners and a couple along the long closed end to mount it to the vehicle. That way, if leaves, trash, or other debris accumulate under it (which they will), I can simply lift it off the Jeep, clean it up, and reinstall it. I used magnets with a thickness of 1/8" and a diameter of 1/2". I recommend applying 3/16" thick strips of rubber between the magnets, also adhered to the supplied adhesive tape, to keep it from sliding on the magnets when the wind blows at highway speeds "just in case. ".
The Hood Scoop is one of my favorites. It's well-made and should last for a long time. The scoop can be turned forward or backwards, according to the instructions. The scoop was facing the windshield when I turned it. Although Texas doesn't get much snow, I wanted to keep bugs, dirt, and debris out. Turning it forwards is supposed to increase the amount of air coming in, but I don't have that problem. When the weather is nice, I roll down the windows and frequently use the soft top. I've never needed the fan to be on high, so the additional airflow is unnecessary. br>br>Until I installed this device, I had no idea that the air grill was offset from the center of the Jeep. br>br>The only complaint I have after looking at it is the price; it should have been $20 less.
During the winter, I had this installed in reverse on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK. I'm in the state of Arizona, specifically in the southern part of the state. It's been through 10°F temperatures, rain, snow, and weeks of direct sunlight in central Arizona. It's still as solid as the day I put it in. So far, there hasn't been any fading.
It's cool, and it adds both style and functionality. Forcing some cool air into the system, which, in my opinion, aids the a/c's performance while moving (on those rare occasions when I actually use it). It gives your Jeep Wrangler a unique look that you won't find anywhere else.
After a year, he went off on me and nearly killed me.
It looks great and keeps water out because I installed it with the intake facing windshield.
