The mechanic demanded $200 for the hinge replacement, despite the fact that the part was only $100. It's ridiculous! I immediately looked up this information and placed an order. In no way do I consider myself to be a mechanic. I don't change my own oil, and I don't even change my wiper blades every now and then. It took about an hour with assistance to replace the hinge. The most difficult part was perfectly aligning the window and the holes so that everything could be screwed together. It was a perfect fit after that! I didn't line everything up perfectly, but the buyer of my car didn't seem to mind. I can't say how long they'll last because I don't have the car anymore, but I'd do it again!.
After a while, the hinges seem to squeak/quirk when first opened. br>br>I recommend applying white lithium grease to the inside hinge before installing, as per Ford's lubrication guidelines. You don't want lubricant to streak across the rear window or wipers. br>br>Alternatively, it's possible that I installed the hinges slightly out of alignment, resulting in the initial squeak/quirk noise; for the time being, I'm betting on lube.
My 16-year-old daughter informed me that the back window was not working properly. Because it wouldn't close, I bungied it shut. I figured it would be a dealer fix, so I read a few reviews and decided to purchase these hinges. It was a little difficult for me to do it alone, but I enjoy a challenge. Two people would be easier, simply because you need to prop open the window. A broom handle was my tool of choice. In any case, it worked flawlessly. KN has solved the problem and is now working as well as new.
My 07 Escape's rusted out and I had to replace it with this high-quality product. These are of superior quality and are simple to install. Assist with screwing in and tightening the glass with a second person. It only took 5 minutes to set up. It took 5 minutes to remove them because they were on the left and right sides. After that, it'll take you another 5 minutes to properly install it. At a reasonable price, it's excellent.
She was devastated until I brought these to her, and her brother fixed her window in less than 20 minutes.
Quality and durability are debatable, but our glass hatch is functional and no longer rattles for about 20 bucks and a few minutes of labor. It only took me 5 minutes to install the part without having to remove the lift/support.
I thought I was finished with my rear window repair when I bought these parts, but when I screwed in the bolt and tightened it to spec, the threaded piece came loose from its holding point. This was something I didn't expect to happen. I had to use some adhesive to keep that threaded post in its bracket backing and hope it would stay put until it came apart again. This brand's overall quality isn't what I'd expect from an oem copy or part for my vehicle. I'd like to see a replacement for my hardship, but I'm too embarrassed to ask, so I'm writing this review to let others know about my experience with this part.
I bought these for a friend who had just bought a used car and had a broken clip. He was afraid he'd have to replace the entire back window, but he decided to give these clips a shot instead. They did a good job and were easy to work with, he said.
