It's a nice shroud, but it's not compatible with the Dometic model 600312. It is too narrow and too short. It's nearly an inch too small in both directions. Before ordering, I called ICON Direct to double-check the measurements and was assured that it would fit.
Keep the old shroud if you want to. Place them side by side and, if the new foam does not have a tape edge, glue it to your new shroud the same way you did your old shroud. If your shroud has blown off, glue it to the parts of your air conditioner that allow air to flow through the ducting path rather than all the way around the top. Place the shroud on the ground and look for the holes in the lower steel shroud. The holes that have been pre-drilled will not line up. Drill new holes after marking the area with a sharpie. After that, just add self-tapping screws and you're done.
It was a good fit for replacing our cracked and worn-out cover. Holes didn't quite line up, but that's something you have to deal with when dealing with so many Dometic AC models over the years. In addition, I needed to replace the foam seals that prevent air from bypassing or recirculating around the condenser. As a result, I gave it a 4 for ease of installation because it isn't likely to be something you can just plug in and go. Finally, after only a few weeks, I can't comment on durability.
Although the holes do not line up, everything else appears to be in order. Yes, it will fit, but it may be a challenge to lay it out the first time because it must be "expanded" to fit the frame. The holes don't always match (only one of six of mine did), but that's easily fixed with a drill bit, as other customers have pointed out. Take care, as your air conditioner's nicely painted frame may appear smooth, but it is razor sharp. Wedging this thing over your AC frame should be done with gloves or some other form of protection. There is no heat shield included. During a wind storm, I (ok, my wife) saved our old heat shield after the old cover died and flew to warmer climes. This will be installed (possibly) in the spring. Otherwise, I'm glad that replacement parts for these older units are being produced. Thank you very much, gentlemen!.
The shroud was a good fit for the a/c frame, but none of the holes were aligned. All four new holes had to be drilled. The foam tape pieces that form a gasket between the a/c and the shroud are also missing. I was aware of this at the time of purchase, but assumed I could get the gasket material from a hardware or RV parts store, as Icon suggested. no way! I couldn't find the 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" foam with one side sticky on Google or in any stores. The Dometic kit includes foam tape, but there are no part numbers listed in the kit parts list. Fortunately, my foam gasket was still in good enough shape to reuse, but this may not be the case in everyone's situation. Aside from that, it looks nice and appears to be heavier than the OEM I replaced.
Two of the holes were out of place. The 'blocking foam' used to separate the intake and exhaust systems is not included. You'll spend days modifying this shroud to make it mechanically perform the same as the original. You'll end up spending more money on the missing pieces and the glue to adhere the foam (only one type of glue will work). In the end, you'll have spent more than the price of a genuine Dometic shroud. That was the way it went - This is the last shroud I'll ever buy from this company. It was a good lesson.
I only have one complaint: there is a seal that must be applied to the new one, which I was unaware of until I removed the old one. Purchase a 10-foot roll of 1 inch thick by 1 inch wide Styrofoam tape before you begin installing it.
Arrived a little early, only one screw hole wouldn't line up, but I was able to work around it without drilling a new hole, fit great other than that, no biggie, seemed well built a storm got my old one, also they sent me an open box item and cut my cost a little, overall i am satisfied, my gray shroud was still attached, which is great because it didn't come with the gray shroud, that the white plastic mounts to,,,o.
