My vehicle is a Ford F-150 from 2016. There was no drilling at all on the 150 XLT. Installing it is simple and quick.
I have a 2016 Ford F150, and you only need one on the driver's side. It's simple to install and works perfectly. Jack H.
Any liner will work well with this. The mounts are on the left side of the opening, between the left cable mount and the side of the tailgate, and are not close to the liner at all. It's also a breeze to set up!
It does not add to or subtract from the weight of the tail gait while lifting; it only activates when the tail gait is lowered.

I am extremely pleased. It was the opening of the plastic clamshell packaging that was the worst part. It took me only a few minutes to set it up. The torx style wrench that came with the kit worked fine; you just need to apply a little more torque. It's simple to do if you use the 10mm wrench specified in the instructions. br>br>With the exception of the 10mm wrench and a 5 Allen wrench, my kit came with everything I needed. It even came with blue thread locker, despite the fact that the instructions didn't mention it. In any case, I used it to remove all of the bolts. A clear plastic sticky strip for attaching to the tailgate and truck was also included in the kit. If any parts come loose, this strip will prevent them from scratching the paint. I didn't use it because it was too thoughtful. br>br>In the video attached, I open the tailgate and then take a step back. It really works. Obviously, there haven't been any long-term results yet.
Dip before installing for a squeaky-clean appearance and corrosion resistance. Some trucks come equipped with tailgate assist out of the factory. My F-150 is one of them. None of the 150 people did. The installation was simple and the instructions were clear. Pro- tip: plasti-coat the metal brackets. Before installing, give it a good dip. They look fantastic, and they should help with any corrosion problems.
This item was purchased for my cousin's F150, which does not have a soft drop tailgate. It's extremely simple to set up. It's a dream to use. When we contacted the dealer, they said they didn't know what to do because Ford only offers a soft drop tailgate on their deluxe pickups. DeeZee was contacted, and they responded with a solution. In ten minutes, I had it up and running. The issue has been resolved. br>Recent changes: After a year, the piston stopped working. DeeZee is the name of the character. My purchase was confirmed by a representative from the customer service department. He dispatched a brand-new squad. There is no cost! The issue has been resolved! The customer service is outstanding! br> DEEZEE products are available for purchase! Great group of people. I am extremely pleased!.
2 out of 5 star rating. I gave it five stars because the product works well, at least when it's brand new. I don't use my tailgate all that often, so this should last a long time on my truck (2016 F-150). 150). I would deduct a half star because the T50 Torx wrench they send is useless unless you want to bust your knuckles and strip your truck's bolt. In addition, the instructional video skips the part about putting the upper part on your truck's bed, which isn't a big deal. br>br>This tailgate assist is very useful and makes it easier to lower your tailgate. I followed the advice of another reviewer and purchased a can of plasti- The two brackets were dipped and coated the day before they were installed, giving the coating plenty of time to cure. I purchased the same color as my truck, which helped them blend in nicely. Fortunately, I live near a NAPA (I live in a small rural town) and went there after almost skinning my knuckles and stripping the bolt on my truck and bought a T50 drive socket for almost $8. The provided tool is completely ineffective. When the guy on the video begins to use the tool provided unsuccessfully (and then finishes using the tool when the video cuts back), the video cuts away and then back in. During the cutaway, I imagine he used a driver socket as well. I believe the product would be worth an extra $3 to $5 if they included a decent drive socket instead of making me drive another 20 minutes and spend more gas to get to the parts store. Aside from that, the installation went smoothly, and I am not a particularly handy person.
br>I also followed other reviewers' advice and put a buffer between the two plates and my vehicle's surface. I used duct tape to secure the mounting plates and trimmed it with a razor blade. I also used a T50 socket to remove the bolt that held the upper unit in place, in the hopes that the duct tape will prevent corrosion. Mine appeared to have been torqued on by a rogue impact wrench. I was worried about the bolt stripping, but it did not. br>br>My tailgate (2016 F150) now opens with the gentleness of a butler in a mansion opening a door for me. Given that one slip can put a $200 on the table, I believe it is a wise investment. On an aluminum tailgate, there is a 00 ding.
This tailgate assist performs exactly as expected. On my 2015 Ford F150, I put it in place. I don't use it on a regular basis, so I haven't put it to the test yet, but for the price, I think it's a great modification that can help others who can't lift or don't have the hands to slow down the tailgate. I don't think you could mess it up because the instructions have pictures and it's already very clear where everything goes and how it works. It took at least 8 hours to complete. Time limit: ten minutes The parts appear to be of good quality and do not appear to be easily worn out.
It really works! Hydraulic assist was built into my old Nissan pickup. I had no idea that my new 2018 Ford didn't have anything similar; When I opened the tailgate, I surprised myself by letting it drop. It was very simple to put this together; all you had to do was remove a few bolts. It came with a plastic liner to keep the metal from rubbing against the truck's aluminum body. It's unobtrusive and does what it's supposed to do. This should be one of the first things you do after you get home. market add-ons that should be purchased once a new truck is purchased!.
