About six days ago, I started looking for a hard tonneau cover. I was looking for one that would allow me to keep using my Utili- (2015 Nissan Frontier Crew) trac system and cargo extender The "Undercover FX51003 Black Flex Tonneau Cover" was the first item I purchased. The excessively long rail clamps were my issue with this product. The Utili-Clamps would not fit due to the Utili-Clamps' Utili-Clamps' Ut The tracing system has been installed. I contacted the manufacturer to inquire if they had any shorter clamps that would work with the utili- system of tracing According to what I've been told, the Utili- "Would have to be removed," says the trac system. " That isn't a viable option: I returned the " Undercover FX51003 Black Flex Tonneau Cover," did some more internet searching, and came across this Bakflip G2 cover. I read the reviews on this site and decided to buy the product (which costs $80). 00 is now cheaper: (at the time of writing), and it arrived in the mail four days later. First and foremost, I was impressed by the product's packaging. Second, the product's quality components, such as the rubber around the hinges and sides, as well as the three slam latches, impressed me. Third, I was blown away by your ability to keep the Utili- As well as the bed extender, there is a trac system. br>br>The Bakflip G2 is FAR superior to the Undercover Flex in terms of quality. BAK: "MADE IN THE USA" is one of my favorite phrases. )br>br>Before purchasing this product, I had a lot of questions, and I wish there were more pictures: I've included photos that answered my questions about the product's installation, in the hopes that they'll be useful to someone who has the same questions as me:.
My first impressions of the Bakflip MX4 cover were not favorable. The flip-flops are held in place by rivets. The up support rod bracket on one of the rails was not properly fastened, causing it to twist and no longer fit or function as intended. I notified the seller, RKSFulfillment, of the manufacturing defect, and they quickly responded, saying they would contact the factory to determine the best course of action. After several days of back-and-forth, I finally received a set of replacement rails today, exactly one week after contacting them about the issue. RKSFulfillment deserves a lot of credit for handling the situation so well. Quick, courteous, and professional communication was provided. Things happen, but how a company responds to them is what matters. I would purchase from RKS again based on my previous experience. br>br>Now, let's talk about the cover. I spent about an hour putting it together, and the end result is decent but not spectacular. The truck I'm driving is a 2019 Nissan Frontier Pro-X. The cover looks great and works well, and installation was simple. Keep in mind that I only put it on today, so we'll see how well it holds up over time. My only complaint is the fit at the tailgate. It's about a quarter-mile long and a quarter-mile wide. on one side, an inch above the top of the tailgate - However, this is not the case on the other hand. I tried loosening the rail clamps and reinstalling the rails, but it didn't work. I tried several times to seat the rail, but no matter what I tried, the cover would not sit flush. I took measurements of the tailgate and truck bed to see if they were out of square or the source of the problem, but they were not. It's hard to tell unless you look closely, but it bothers me because it makes it that much easier for a potential thief to wedge a pry bar under the cover and pop it off, not to mention that it's a perfect spot for water ingress. I'm also not a fan of the cover's overall construction. I expected crisp cuts, a perfect fit, and high-quality materials for nearly $1000. workmanship of high quality However, if you look closely, you can see that there is a lack of craftsmanship: The original rail has chipped or broken plastic end caps, mismatched rail component lengths, aluminum chips all over, and improperly fastened rivets. putting. Supporting the United States is something I wholeheartedly believe in. Bakflip, on the other hand, needs to improve its quality control measures. br>br>Having said that, the cover is attractive and appears to work well, and I'm satisfied with my purchase. Is it something I'd go out of my way to get? Probably.
However, it took me about 20 minutes to figure out that it was garbage. This was a cover I was hoping to like. Quality control appears to be a disaster. Aluminum shavings can be found all over the place, including inside the joints, where the rubber seals may be damaged while in use. The craftsmanship used to put it together appears to be shoddy and has been completed in a hurry. Screws are crooked or haven't been driven all the way through. The upgraded caps at the ends of their rails appear to be causing more issues than they are solving. I followed the instructions exactly and a quick burst from the water hose revealed that it was leaking profusely at the corners. When I reinstalled it, I discovered that the leak was caused by a seal that had been cut short, and that their silly little plastic caps, which are supposed to help prevent leaks, were actually causing the leak. The bed rails do not appear to be an exact fit; instead, they appear to be within range, resulting in small gaps at the corners where water can enter. I understand that water type covers are not 100% water type covers are not 100% water type covers are not 100% water type covers are not 100% water type covers are not water type covers are This cover may fit some models of trucks for some people, but it does not fit my Nissan Frontier. Bakflip can say whatever they want, but I am mechanically inclined and have installed this bed cover correctly. Everything is within parameters, but it still leaks far more than is acceptable for a $1,000 bed cover.
So far, it's been very reliable. The product is fantastic in and of itself. So far, it's been very reliable. Because I've only recently installed it, I have no idea how it will hold up over time or in various situations. I had problems with UPS destroying my package, causing damage to my delivery, and losing parts, so I had to return the one I purchased on Amazon. But I found the same one at a different store, and it's fantastic. br>br>Despite never having installed a bed cover before, I was able to do it myself. I would, however, suggest that you seek professional assistance. It would be so much easier if there were two of us.
