This AC Delco belt was used to replace the old one. This is the lower belt that goes around the AC compressor, and it stopped squealing. It is worth buying over a cheaper belt, in my opinion, because you must remove the larger serpentine belt first before installing this one around the AC compressor. I used a 3/8 inch ratchet extension with the ratchet inserted into the ratchet slot for removal and installation. To remove the old belt, insert the belt tensioner pulley and reverse the procedure to replace it.
This is not the Serpentine or Main Drive belt; instead, it is the AC's second belt. But it gets the job done; it's a tight fit to get a wrench into to adjust the tension pulley, but it's fairly simple to install. especially if you're in my shoes and need to replace the water pump as well, which gives you a little more leeway.
Because it is low on engine and exposed to more elements, I chose the HD version of this belt. It was delivered on time, and once I got it seated on the AC and pulley, it was relatively simple to install. It took a few tries to find the best method. Now that both belts have been replaced, I can rest easy. Because I'm at 145K miles and these trucks are known for lasting a long time, I decided to risk not changing the tensioner on the AC belt. Because the original tensioner appeared to be in good working order, I decided to save $35.
What exactly is a fan belt that is simple to install? The Chevy Silverado has a really cool belt system; simply remove a few parts, wind up the tensioner, and it's done. The belt is of good quality, and it is not an out-of-production item.
