It was a bit of a drag at times. I only took about an inch off. It was as if they were made for each other. It was overheating, according to the owner, and a head gasket had possibly blown. I looked at the oil and it appeared to be in good condition. There was no milky substance in the oil, so that was a plus. I immediately eliminated a blown gasket. In and out, the Jeep was a shambles. For it, she demanded $500. I was able to negotiate a price of $300 for her. Trailed up to the house and returned it. The antifreeze in the cooling system was rusted. The entire system has been flushed. The antifreeze has been replaced. The lower radiator hose was split and needed to be repaired. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it had only 118000 miles on it. It's a dream to use. I couldn't be more overjoyed about it. I'd like to sell it to whoever is interested. On my 2003 KJ liberty with 3, this hose is 1/2"-1" too short. 7V6 and 45 RFEtrans are two different types of RFEtrans. I attempted to install it in both directions and found it to be far too short; could I get it on, tighten the clamps, and drive the Jeep? Sure, but why take the chance? Beware! Never use a short hose on a vehicle that has a plastic radiator, such as the KJ - When the engine vibrates back and forth, it will cause cracks. Maybe it's because of this hose that so many Liberties have leaks and need to be replaced. The Dayco upper hose, part number 72227, fit perfectly without needing to be trimmed and was of excellent quality.

Cooling system leaks are caused by brand hoses that aren't the right length. Screw-in Gates are also available. Hose Clamps of the type Constant Tension [stacked washer], which are required for modern radiators with plastic fittings. Traditional Worm Gear Hose Clamps will loosen and leak as they cool down.
This appeared to be a used item rather than a solid one. However, after it was installed, it appeared to be in good working order and was holding up well. I'll give it a year to see how it performs in real life and then update my review accordingly.
There's no need to trim anything. It was a perfect match. There is no need for the TRIMMING that the local parts store requires; it's just turn it on and go. Replacement that is of high quality.
