I have used it on my 1995 Jeep Wrangler without any problems. As they are a bit difficult to install, if you do not have confidence in your mechanical skills, it may be better to pay someone or get a friend to help. In the end I had to use a piece of 5/8 all thread, washers, and a couple nuts to pull the seal into position from the outside hub instead of having to drive it from the inside. 1/2 all thread was not working because of the flex in the thread. A sealant is usually put on the seal in case it bends a bit during installation some installers like to grease the seal first then seal it. My first order was for 2, just in case I ruined the first one, then I ordered 2 more. Thankfully, the thing does not leak anymore!.
It proved challenging for me to install these straight using a socket or a PCV adapter on a threaded rod, the usual home garage solutions. This seal did not work well with the Yukon installation tool, but that is not Timkens' fault. It is the same design as the Crown seals, and it is more heavy duty as well. A significant price difference over Crown was obtained from using Timkens' CAD site. They were manufactured to the published dimensions. My seals and installation tool fit together perfectly and made the job a snap. I unfortunately destroyed these trying to install them, so I went with the Yukon seals and installation tool.
A set of oil seals that fit perfectly with Jeep 1988 and 1999 front Dana 30 differentials The Jeep Grand Cherokee was produced in 2004. This seals the wheel hub and each wheel is installed with a pair of these, one for each axle shaft. In the case I described above, I prefer Timken oil seals and would be more than happy to recommend them.
Located on the driver's side, this is the inner seal found on older Jeep D30s. In this case, I sold the item When I tried to drive it in with a 36mm socket, the first one I bought fell out. As an alternative, I used a 12" C clamp with a proper-sized seal driver to press in the second one with better success with a lot less effort. I also prefer the fit of a regular old Dana seal to that of the Hale seal.
Stocked with same information.
It worked perfectly on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A new seal for the 2005 Jeep Wrangler front axle.
Definitely the best.
