Is this a good way to install a crankshaft seal on a 5vz?

No, I don't think so. The diameter of the crank seal is greater than that of the Cam Shaft seal. Using a 2 inch piece of PVC, I was able to tap my crank seal into place with ease.

Toyota Lexus V6 is a great match

On a 2002 Lexus ES300, it was used to replace the cam seals. With a rubber mallet or pvc pipe (the simple and inexpensive method for installing seals), the rear one is extremely difficult to reach. This was a great solution. The screw and bolt were perfectly aligned and tightened with ease. The metal shaft and cup fit perfectly over the cam seal. I'm glad I didn't need a specialized part because these cam seals are a standard size.

When changing the timing belt on a Toyota Camry, you'll need this tool to replace the front cam seals. It took a quarter of the time and eliminated all of the stress and anxiety associated with properly installing the seal. With the power steering hose, air conditioning lines, and wire harness in the way, there isn't much room. This is a good solution. If you're going to do a complete timing belt replacement, this is the tool you'll need.
