Questions & Answers

If I'm replacing both CV axels, do I need one for each side? That is, assuming the old seals aren't damaged. ?

Yes. It's always been my policy to replace all seals, whether or not they appear to be damaged. I don't trust my naked eye, or even a magnifying glass, to detect hidden damage that could cause new parts to fail prematurely.

Will this fit a 2008 4x4 FJ Cruiser's driver's side?

The one I bought was for a 2007 FJ Cruiser passenger side. I found another number for the drivers side when I looked up this part number, so I installed a NAPA seal and it had a slow leak. It was necessary to remove the OEM part and replace it with this one, which successfully stopped the leak. I've always had better luck with Toyota OEM, and the nearest dealership has a parts department that stinks. Next time, I'll drive across town to another dealer, though NAPA is a close second. I bought front rotors and the best pads they had for my FJ. They squeak a little, but not as much as the OEM. I didn't feel like driving across town this time, but I will next time.

The differential oil seal on the driver's side is in excellent condition
5/5

On my 2008 Tacoma 4x4, the Toyota replacement part was perfect. This is the oil seal for the CV joint that connects to the front differential on the driver's side.

Toyota Genuine
5/5

When I upgraded to 4, I got a genuine Toyota. I had to change the passenger side differential tube to the new clamshell after getting 88 gears from ECGS. There hasn't been any leaks so far!.

CV axle leaks at the differential require an OEM replacement
3/5

When the seal started leaking after a CV replacement on the passenger side of my 1996 Toyota Tacoma with manual hubs, I used this. Since then, I've driven it a few hundred miles without any leaks. EDIT: br>br> The seal appears to have failed after a month or so, and there is a lot of leakage.

Excellent craftsmanship
5/5

The best option is to replace the part with an OEM replacement. My 06 Tacoma has a diff leak at the axles that needs to be fixed. If something goes wrong, I'll let you know.
