If there is any fault, it will be with how ridiculous it is that this needs to be beat on in order to install the large vacuum seal on a Dana 60 front live axle(my FORD also has this axle, by the way). Though the tool was put to a lot of use, it remained robust. If any of the other brackets need to be reamed out before I can seat the large vacuum seal, I may do so. What an effort that is, how long does it take to install it. It's better to grease the seal AND the bracket, beforehand. I called Timken, my hub bearing maker, and they told me that they use lithium based grease on my hubs. Therefore, I felt comfortable adding a small amount of the same kind.

The pictures in the article are missleading. THESE ARE THE PICTURES OF the seal that I pulled according to the instructions. A SNAP RING could not be seated inside the seal because it wasn't deep enough. was able to replace the axle after removing the axle and reinstalling it using the tool to seat the seal, and then install the snap ring after the axle was installed.

The tool is well thought out and isn't even carried by many tire shops. I don't know. Both the seals and axles can be installed securely using the brainer - without causing damage to the parts if the parts aren't installed securely.

You should add this to your tool chest if you are doing the DIY on It has been super easy for me to use, and I have already done it three times. To attempt the job without the tool and avoid damaging the seal would be nearly impossible. You may need to properly seat it.

In addition to the tool being easy to use and of good workmanship, the installation process is straightforward. seal needs to be driven into place with a hammer, and one weighing at least 4 pounds is recommended. Please take precautions It's best to use a large plastic hammer instead of a metal hammer because a metal hammer will leave little dents on the driving face.

Yes, I was a bit pissed about the cost, but they worked great after I tapped them in with a big sledge hammer. You can gain more control over your mass when you do it in a controlled manner.
