One of the clamps (the red one) had snapped. The spring had broken, and there was no way to get it back. I wrapped strong rubber bands around the clamp's edge over the copper leads, connected it to the battery post, and the vehicle started, though not as strong as before. br>Amazon has been kind enough to send me another pair, this time made of ABS plastic, which is more durable, and it will arrive tomorrow. Request clamps made of ABS plastic, as this is my recommendation. It would be extremely unfortunate if a clamp broke at an inconvenient time and location. The purpose of the jump starter is defeated.
These are compatible with the Viking jump starter from Harbor Freight. Keep in mind that there are a few distinctions to be aware of. First, the harbor freight leads add 21 inches to the total length. As shown in the illustration, the replacement cables are only 8 and 12 inches long. Unlike the Viking, this one only has power to one side of the clamps, but on the plus side, it's made of thicker wire. Length may not be an issue in your application, but if you're like me and start various things like lawnmowers, etc. , the shorter wires may not be enough to accommodate the entire unit. I simply swapped the plastic clamp for the Viking unit, as you can see in the photo. That's a bit of a challenge. Hint: To get them on without pinching the secondary wire, first put the metal clamp with the main wire on, then the second metal jaw and spring on. Because the plastic clamps appear to be identical, they might break unexpectedly when you need them in an emergency, so I ordered another one to keep in my kit.
This one popped up while I was looking for the cables for the GOOLOO 800A Peak 18000mAh Car Jump Starter. It had to be changed because it didn't fit. 800A Peak 18000mAh Car Jump Starter from GOOLOO.
With no spark, but the teeth of the red clamp appeared to be non-existent after I did so, I believe these are good jumper cables but not so good metal.
These clamps have a metal hinge and are a great replacement for your lithium-ion battery clamps. Clamps with plastic hinges are included in the ion battery jump kit. The original plastic clamps literally broke when they were used for the first time. These metal clamps have been used a number of times and have never broken. br>br>Note: I believe I paid around $16 for the Smart version. When checking out, it appears that a cheaper version with plastic hinges is available for around $8.
These were used to replace ones that had blown up and they work perfectly.
My jump box was about to die, but this replacement cable has given it a second chance.
Although it served its purpose and was compatible with the Bestek 400A car jumper, the actual head piece of this jumper feels very flimsy. It's difficult to get it in and out of the charger. The blue piece, in particular, does not seem to stay in place and appears to be ripping out of the block portion.
