Yes, I think so. My size 31 marine battery fits perfectly in the tray.
The D31T battery you mentioned has a capacity of 12 volts. 81 x9. The tray measures 13 x 6 3/4 inches on the inside. So no, I don't think it will fit. I measured the inside of my tray to give you the measurements, and I looked up the battery on Optimas' website.
Both are constructed of extremely durable plastic. I have three of them, and they are all securely holding the batteries.

With the exception of the top hold-down design, this is a very well-made battery tray. tray should be lowered The BOTTOM tray was large enough for my 13" long x 6" wide 13" long x 6" wide 13" long x 6" wide 13" long x 6" Battery is 5" wide and has a 1/8" gap between it and the tray. The most important thing to remember is that down would NOT fit the top of the battery (same battery dimensions) because there are two "ribs" on each end of the tray that will only allow a maximum of 12 inches. To fit, you'll need a 5"-long battery. I grabbed a small propane torch and set it on fire. To perform "rib amputation," heat up an old chisel and use the heated tip. The top tray fit the top of the battery perfectly after the "surgery," with no damage to the top tray.
FYI - My battery was at a level of 8. 5" in height A 8 will be able to use the side hold down screws. 5" to 10. Battery is 5 inches tall. If your battery has a capacity of more than 12 volts, you should use it.
