*Two* 12v 35Ah batteries can be used. Mighty Max is the brand I have, but other brands appear to be similar in size. I'd been looking for a box that would fit both of my batteries, which totaled 70Ah, but I couldn't find one because the width of these batteries is just 1/8" too wide to fit sideways in almost any trolling motor box. SO CLOSE. br>br>For some reason, this one is marketed as 6v, which is why I initially missed it. A plastic box, on the other hand, does not have any voltage. br>br>The next step will be to install some external post terminals on the outside of the lid, but for now, I'm content with running the cables through the ports.
Warning: Because these are for very tall batteries, make sure you have enough headroom to lift the batteries into and out of these boxes if you mount them with screws through the bottom. The box material did not need to be structurally rigid because of the trailer tongue. This will keep you safe from water and rocks on the road. You can connect a connecting cable to a second 6 volt for use in a series through a shielded gap in the lid. The strap serves no purpose other than to keep the lid in place. If you plan to mount this box to a vehicle or trailer from the outside, you'll need to purchase an extra strap. The price is about what I expected a plastic box to cost, though many are more expensive.
I ordered two of these, but only received one. If you have a limited amount of space in the front of your battery box, the lid may be a problem. Wires can enter and exit the box through bumpouts in the lid's front. This is great, but my propane cover isn't working any longer. It's not a problem with the box; it's a problem with my end of things, but I wanted to make sure another buyer was aware in case they were short on space. Due to missing items, a star has been deducted.
Costco G2 Golf Cart Batteries are perfectly compatible with this charger. To replace the 12V batteries in my travel trailer, I recently purchased two Costco golf cart batteries. These battery boxes are well-made and sturdy, and they fit perfectly in my trailer's battery frame. The only drawback is that the hold down straps could be of higher quality, but this isn't a major issue because I used my old ones and they worked perfectly.
Even when a GC2 box/case is specified, not all 6V golf cart batteries are the same size. My Interstate GC2- fits perfectly in this box/case. RD extends about 1/2" above the top of the battery housing and fits perfectly. But, with my Trojan T105-II, it's a different story. RE's, the case sits about 1/2" below the battery housing's top. The top cover of the box/case still fits, so it's not a big deal, but I prefer the box/case to be higher than the battery housing. The box's/case's overall construction quality is excellent, and the cover fits well and is simple to put on and remove. This is a high-quality product that should last me for many years.
