No, as shown, it comes the way it is
Your Subaru battery will most likely fit if it is a top post battery.
It's okay to do that
As it is a coated piece, I am not sure of the actual material. However, I am certain that it is safe and should last a long time.

I just wanted to mention it.
These were shipped next day after I ordered them. Cutting the old wires with a hack saw was easy. The thickest wire was then wound around the blunt end of the cable stripper, making it smooth, compressed, and able to fit through the terminal hole. Exactly what I wanted! I tightened the wires with Allen wrenches, and then I tightened the terminal to the post itself with larger allen wrenches. Thick and sturdy, these look to be a good investment. A tightening screw is easy to use. It's been sixty years since I graduated from high school Even as a one year old, I can do this, and so can you! In the event that there are any issues with these, I'll update the post.
In terms of the neg term, it seemed a bit too large without the shim, so it had to be spread quite a bit in order to get During the process of spreading the terminal apart with a Snap- on tool, I actually damaged the terminal A pry bar can be used for this. One other small inconvenience is that you have to use pliers to hold the thumb screw in place on Although not a big deal, you will damage the gold thumb screws if you are not careful. I have ordered a second set for the other battery in the van after using the first set. Edit this paragraph. The thumb screw was indeed an allen key and I forgot that I was using the screwdriver and not the thumb screw due to a hurry. If you tighten the terminal with pliers, you will not damage it. On the second round, I will remember it.
These are good for replacing bad terminals. It is an affordable alternative to replacing hundreds of dollar cable assemblies.
To help clean up the wiring on my muscle car and my plow trucks, I got a few of these. Unboxing the item reveals it has an interesting weight to it indicating it is a quality product. There is a nice finish to it too. I have used it for years in my car as well as my trucks with 2 batteries. As for the positive side wire going to the starter, I was a little worried at first, but it worked just like factory after connecting it and testing it out.
As well, why, like, is the allen wrench needed to put them on and take them To be able to use correctly sized wrenches, I need to replace that bolt.
It was my fault. These were just replacement battery terminals. I should have read the instructions before buying them. After I received the set screws, I realized that using them for my "Big 3" upgrade wasn't a good idea. Apparently, my fault is that this terminal won't allow lug crimp connectors on my wires. I now realize I prefer lug crimp connectors on my wires. The set screw options look awesome if you are okay with the set screws. However, as they are obviously not deburred prior to shipping, it would be a good idea to deburr the edges.
In my case, I tried using a battery terminal spreading tool, but the material the tool is made out of will not bend at all, I was trying to use them both for a (+) lead on a 1998 6 volt. Due to the 2-batteried nature of 5 Diesel, there are 5 engines. The order should have been ordered 2. My mistake. It is a well-done install and I am pleased with it. I will buy again if I need better quality terminals than your basic lead tractor terminals. You will have to remove the set screws to remove the inner sleeve to allow true 1/0 wire to pass through.
