My 2013 Ram 1500's service light went on. (5. 7) The code p0520, which is the oil pressure sensor, was returned. br>I did some research to see if it was a job I could complete on my own, and it is. br>A 1 - is required. 1/16-inch deep socket, and possibly a step stool The sensor is located on the front of the engine, above the oil filter. br>The plug is a little difficult to remove, but simply lift up on the grey tab (not too much) and pull the plug back. br>Replace the old sensor by unscrewing it and screwing in the new one. Because I have no idea what the torque is, I turned it until it felt good and solid. br>Now all that's left is to reset the code by plugging it in again. br>Use a scanner to clear the code, or disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes, or simply drive the vehicle for a few days and it should clear itself after a few cycles. br>br>This was the solution to my problem. I hope this information is useful to someone else.
I don't mind dismantling things and attempting to repair them myself. But it turned out to be a little more than I had anticipated. The component is located between the engine block and the firewall at the very rear of the engine. To get to it, you must remove the upper and lower air intake manifolds from the engine. Because the locations are always difficult to replace, opting for OEM parts gives you the best chance of avoiding an aftermarket failure and the aggravation of having to do the job twice. For the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4, this is a great OEM oil pressure sensor replacement. It was a little difficult to set up; Because the 4X4 drive-train was in the way, I had to go through the same cutout for oil changes. After the oil pressure sensor code has been cleared, it works flawlessly. You could use a regular 1 1/16" deep socket or an oil pressure sensor socket (Lisle 13250 Oil Pressure Switch Socket). A 3/8" or 1/2" U-bolt is also recommended. Adapter for a ball spring joint socket. Having those two extra items will make the transition much less difficult.
