Is it possible that the pulley is made of aluminum?

Although it appears to be made of aluminum, it performs admirably. However, there is one word of caution. Keep in mind that the "V" groove is offset and does not line up with either pulley grove on the engine crankshaft in one position. In the opposite direction, it perfectly aligns with the correct groove (the one next to the engine) on every belt path run.

Is this part compatible with a 1977 Mercedes Benz 240 D?

The Mercedes alternator is made by Bosch. Only Ford and GM are listed for the Mr. Gasket part. The Mr. Gasket part is unlikely to fit.

Is the pulley of a certain size?

The pulley has a diameter of 2 inches on the outside. 653 inches in length

Most alternator shafts appear to be the same diameter, so it fit perfectly. It's possible that proper alignment will necessitate the use of sbr>Acer. I am completely happy.
