Questions & Answers
There is only one strut mount included.
The strut mount is brand new. You can reuse the originals, but the rubber bushings and coil isolators may be worn depending on how old your vehicle is. If you're already buying everything new, having brand new strut mounts isn't a bad idea. These attach the spring to your strut, which is mounted to your vehicle, and sit on top of the strut assembly. This kyb part number is for a 2010 4runner, so double-check their parts catalog before ordering to ensure it will fit your vehicle.
You'll need one for each strut. In the front of my FJ, I have struts, and in the back, shocks and springs. The springs in struts are compressed and attached as a single unit. The springs on shocks are not attached to them; they are separate. I hope this has been of assistance.

br>I've always had a noise in my head that sounds like two washers smacking against each other. It sounds like a light clang with a high-pitched ping. The shock is mostly on its way down. I removed the sway bar because I thought it was hitting the spring perch. The noise had not subsided. At full extension, I assumed the spring was simply bottoming out the strut. I went insane trying to figure out what was causing it, but I was never successful. Until the tophats and bushings on my strut isolator bushings started to crack, and I replaced them with these KYB kits. It turned out to be the case. This is the order in which the OEM hardware for the strut isolator bushing and washers around the top hats is installed, from bottom to top. a washing machine Bushing at the bottom Washer of Tophats a top hat Bushing at the top a washing machine Nut. br>Now that I've removed the old tophat, I believe the noise I was hearing was caused by the washer above the bottom bushing colliding with the top hat. The strut inside the tophat is aligned with a special washer in the OEM hardware. This is a metal-on-metal situation; once the bushings wear out, the parts can temporarily separate on fast shock extensions before colliding again. br>The bushing in the KYB kits is the same shape as the old bushing and washer combo. As a result, all of the noise is gone. Thank you, KYB, for creating a design that takes this into account. You helped me solve a problem that I wasn't sure I had. Since I installed this kit, I haven't heard that obnoxious sound that I first heard when backing out of my driveway. I would strongly suggest it.
I was hesitant to order these strut mounts because I had previously purchased KYB for my wife's Lexus and they were terrible. I had to return them because they looked to have been used and were rusted and sucked, but I took a chance and ordered a set for my 4Runner. The ones for the Runner come real nicely packaged, nicely painted, and appear to be of significantly higher quality than the car ones, so I used them after about a thousand miles and they are Stone silent even over.
Because the truck was over ten years old, we decided to replace the factory bushings. The quality is excellent, and the fit is perfect.
On my 2006 Toyota 4Runner, the front suspension was squeaking. The problem was resolved by replacing this component! The squeak was caused by a worn-out bushing on the top of the strut, and both bushings have been replaced. The one on top of the strut that isn't shown in the picture is attached to the top of the mount (which I'm pointing to in the second picture) and has the bushing that goes on top of the mount.
For my 2003 Toyota 4Runner, these are excellent replacement bushings and insulators! Great replacement for my 245k XREAS suspension's very worn bushings and insulators. I was able to take the direct replacement to my local brake shop, where they installed it along with new Bilstein 5100 shocks and Moog springs. If you're upgrading or replacing your suspension, these are a must-have.
That appeals to me. So far, I'm quite pleased! We'll see how well they hold up, but I don't see why not.
Perfect. Not to mention the fact that I'm only on the lower adjustments; with advanced control arms, I'll be able to go as high as I want. These suspensions for lifting are incredible. br>br>[DO NOT BUY THE SPACER FRONT LIFT KIT FOR THIS BUILD; you will not need it, and it will only mess up your geometry. ].
Adam G's review is one that I concur with. These are, in my opinion, superior to the original design. I was experiencing the same issue as he was. My tacoma's left strut made a loud, annoying slapping noise. Only when the suspension was rapidly loaded and unloaded did I hear it. When combined with a set of Bilstein 5100s, these solved my problem. On curvy highways and rough dirt roads, my steering feels tighter and the truck responds more quickly.
