Worked perfectly. Slow-moving at times, but not all the time. It was a pain to deal with the falling lift gate. Then it finally failed and landed on my head one day. br>br>Let me tell you, it's not only inconvenient and humiliating. It is risky. I "saw stars" because it struck me so hard. I'm sure a baby, small child, or elderly person would have been seriously injured if they were hit that hard. If it had hit my face instead of the top or back of my head, I would almost certainly have broken my nose and lost teeth, if not more. I swear, the lift gate is that heavy, and it's in free-fall mode. I did my research to find the right supports for my vehicle and it really does land that hard. br>br>I did my research to find the right supports for my vehicle and it really does land that hard. Monroe has a long history of producing high-quality automotive shocks, so I had no doubt that they'd make a good support; these supports fit perfectly and perform admirably. Monroe lift gate supports come highly recommended by me. I strongly advise you to replace yours as soon as you notice they are failing. There's no need to wait until you or someone you care about is injured before taking action.
I've been a long-time user of Monroe products. There's a reason why they're sold in almost every auto parts store. br>br>The eye holes aren't exactly the same as the factory ones, but they fit close enough. The tube is perfectly round, and compressing it is extremely difficult. This installation should only be attempted by someone who has access to basic tools (impact, tap die set, etc. ). My threads weren't matching up with the factory bolts, and I'm not sure if it was because of a rear-end collision (glass shards rattling in the liftgate) or because they were out before. I had to tap out each hole before hammering it in. br>br>After that, everything worked perfectly, and even with only one installed, it was very strong. br>br>I also recommend having a 6ft ladder and some 2x4s on hand to keep the gate in place while it is being replaced.
With the old lifts, my Chrysler Town and Country lift smacked me in the head. I was surprised that the back hatch opened so quickly after the relatively simple installation of the new lifts that I had to move out of the way or it would push me out of the way. This is a wonderful change. Looks to be well-made and at a fair price.
This product was less than expected when compared to the OEM version. The screws were soft, which was the biggest problem. They were easily stripped, and they were unable to fully install them. The right side went in without a hitch, but the left side stripped as I tried to tighten it. The shock itself was most likely fine, but the screw material made proper installation impossible.
These are extremely durable and simple to construct. This is fantastic. These are extremely durable and simple to put together. I'm no longer afraid to stand beneath the lift gate of my minivan. I considered getting the cheaper ones, but I'm glad I went with the higher-quality, name-brand option.
Replaced the left support that was sticking with this one and it bolted right in, worked perfectly, almost forgot how easy it used to open, pull the handle, and it opens like new again, gotta enjoy the few pleasant surprises that owning a ten-year-old minivan can bring.
Faster and more powerful than the original. These went on my Dodge Grand Caravan's tailgate with ease. Because the piston had corroded, the originals were stuck. The tailgate opens much faster than the original, to the point where we almost got hit in the jaw a couple of times until we got used to it. Hopefully, with time, their "kick" will lessen.
This is a direct replacement for the OEM part. Mine had the same quick-release mechanism as yours. I replaced the factory pistons' disconnect clips in less than 15 minutes with only a small flat-head screwdriver and a small flat-head screwdriver. screwdriver with a bladed blade.
