Questions & Answers

Is this for a pair of shoes? or do you only have one?

Just 1. I bought two of them, and they're fantastic!

Is there a ball socket on each end of the support, and what are the item's dimensions?

Yes, each end has a ball socket.

Is it possible to use these on either side, or do I need to buy one on the left and one on the right?

The Max Monroe Although the lift can be used on either side, it is recommended that if only one side is replaced, the opposite side be checked for proper lift capacity. Thank you

Is this for a single strut or two?

The 901360 is only available in a single configuration.

They're simple to put together and perform better than the stock GM lift supports
5/5

On my 2003 Suburban, I had to replace the GM gas-charged rear hatch lift support struts. The first set, which came with the truck, lasted more than a decade. The Chevy Dealer gave me a new set of tires. did not perform well, and one of the lift struts recently failed, necessitating the use of a lift hatch. a lot of weight These Monroe replacements were ordered. They are far superior to the originals that came with my new Suburban in October of 2002. Keep an eye out because these lift supports open the hatch perfectly and quickly. I'll buy them again because I'm confident they won't break.

The lift gate now opens completely on its own
5/5

My suburban lift gate's struts were worn out, resulting in head collisions. In less than five minutes, I had these installed, and the lift gate now fully opens. br>br>NOTE: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be When replacing old struts, have someone hold the lift gate open, as a single new strut is insufficient to keep the gate open. If you take it off without support, you'll get a thud on the head.

For my 2003 GMC Yukon, it appears to be an exact OEM replacement
4/5

My 2003 GMC Yukon Denali appears to be a perfect OEM replacement. It came from a different supply because of the different manufacturer name on it. I'm not sure if they're from the same company. It appears to be EXACTLY the same this time as well. They perform admirably as well. They must have a smaller/lighter tailgate, according to customer complaints that they are "too strong. " The tailgate has now reached the top of the travel and is slowing down nicely about 4 inches from the top. It's also not difficult to close the tailgate. It's extremely simple to set up. The instructions, on the other hand, are terrible (one star deducted). Version in its simplest form. (1) Make sure you have plenty of overhead clearance (don't put it in your garage at home). (2) Raise the tailgate to prevent it from collapsing on you as you remove the old lift supports. (3) Work on one side at a time. (4) Pry one of the old lift supports' retaining clips (top and bottom). (5) Double-check that the tailgate prop is in the right place. (6) Remove the old lift support and replace it at the top with the new one. (8) Twist the bottom until the socket (on the lift support) and the ball (on the truck body) are aligned. 9) At the bottom, secure the new lift support. (10) Finish by repeating steps 4–9 on the other side.

It's a good product that lasts a long time
5/5

These have performed admirably in our 2000 Suburban. So far, we've bought three. The first one was purchased seven years ago, and it is now in need of replacement. The door remains open, but it requires a little more effort to fully open. The other side had been replaced for four years. If both were replaced at the same time, they might last a little longer.

[EDIT] It worked, but it was a little too much
3/5

It took about 5 minutes to install with a flathead screwdriver, and it's actually a little stronger than the one factory strut that was still functional. These are also significantly less expensive than the quotes I received from my local auto parts store. These ones, hopefully, will make it - It's a 40-point improvement over the previous set. br>br>[EDIT] After a few weeks of use and getting over the joy of having my hatch work again, I have to say that these struts are significantly stronger than the OEM ones, and are not damped at all, allowing them to move very quickly. With these in place, and when it reaches its limit, it bangs at the top. I'm concerned that the mounting points will be damaged as a result of this. Because the struts provide such strong resistance, it's also difficult for a small person (like my girlfriend) to close the hatch. They may weaken with time, but for the time being, they are a little too much.

Don't go for the less expensive options
5/5

This shock is excellent; I tried a less expensive model and it failed after three days. This is a pricey shock, but it's well worth it.

It was a little difficult to close
4/5

The Monroe 901360 Max-Energy was used. On my 2002 GMC Yukon XL, I have Gas Charged Lift Supports. They've performed admirably, and they're even more powerful than the original lifts. Pulling down to close the back door takes twice as much strength as pulling up. Before you buy them, think about this. Aside from that, they do a great job of keeping the door open. All you have to do is gently pull it open and it will rise on its own.
