Questions & Answers
No, the head should only go through the hole in the spring perch; instead, use a wedge such as the RE1468 wedge, which is bolted to the spring by the center pin.
It's universal, but depending on the application, it might need to be reduced.
Choose your pin diameter for your application when ordering a 5/16" center pin pair with nuts. The pin length is longer than necessary, and it will be cut after installation.
There is a "cap" that measures about 3/8" (this is the part that goes into the centering hole), but the centering pin is threaded the entire length.

These matched the RE 4 degree shims perfectly. You're doing it wrong if you're trying to put a leaf spring pact together with these. Clamp the spring pack on both sides of the center, giving yourself plenty of room to work (I used C-clamps). Install the shim and center pin, torque, and remove clamps (about a foot apart). I had no problems with it.
My Tacoma was lifted, and I went with a three-leaf AAL. I followed the instructions and skipped the overload leaf. I ended up reinstalling the overload leaf, which necessitated the purchase of new center bolts, which I did. As expected, it worked perfectly.
It's a complete waste because you can line both of these up perfectly, support the axel properly, and put them all together just fine; it's when you go to torque these down that the problems start. Before torqueing to specs, both sides are straight as an arrow, but as soon as they get close to the recommended foot pounds, they begin to bend.
I chose these center pins solely because the photo showed that they came with spacers to compensate for the width of the shims. There were no spacers included.
They are suitable for 5/16" bolts. Because the metal is soft, it can be easily stripped and bent.
Unlike the photo, these are completely threaded. They're extra long, so you'll have to cut them down to size for your project. A good product at a reasonable cost.
These were purchased to go with my old Trail Master leafs and RE 8* shims that I had. However, there was one minor snag. Where the shim is supposed to go, the leafs aren't flat. When I began bolting one side down and attempting to flatten the leaf, the center pin threads stripped with a loud pop. If I hadn't used the shims or if my leafs had been flat at the perch, I don't think it would have been an issue.
Center bolts are of good quality and fit perfectly.
