It's probably because the air intake tubes would be raised and wouldn't line up properly if they were made of aluminum, as they were on my old diesel, so they're ridged and don't flex.

I bought the 3 inch lift kit, which is made in the United States. The lift's "pucks" and hard ware are of excellent quality. The existing cab bushings are not replaced by this. You'll replace the existing bushings with these. The original bushings are threaded onto the through bolt, which was rusted to the bushings in my case. A sawzall and a special diamond tip metal cutting blade were used to cut the rear bushings. I did get new bushings for the back cab, but I had to re-install them. The remaining four mounts were utilized. This is a large project that took several days to complete by one person. The bed was removed in order to gain access to the rear mounts. The plan is to replace the wheels and tires with larger tires, necessitating the use of a lift kit.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with a different brand. The build quality appears to be satisfactory, but I docked two stars because the company failed to respond to my emails. They seem to have a problem with bad customer service.
It was a cinch to use.
