Questions & Answers
"The pointer on your tachometer will not always rest at zero when the engine is off," says the instruction sheet. It's perfectly natural. br>The pointer will register the correct RPM when the engine is started. "br>I hope this information is useful.
Yes. I have no problems using this tach with a Pertonix ignition in my 1968 Mustang.
I put it on a Ford F-100 truck. Should be simple to put on Subaru.
Any auto parts store will sell you regular automotive wire. It doesn't have to be heavy; 18 to 25 gauge will suffice.

Love it! The installation instructions are simple to follow. Power, Ground, Light source from a headline signal for the light to work properly at night, and signal connection from coil are the only four simple wires required for operation. This works perfectly as a Tachometer on an older VW with a decent engine that I installed it on. I was aware of the lack of a rev limiter when I purchased it. It works great, and I made my own installation panel out of the dash grill and some 3M automotive weather strip adhesive glue to keep it in place.
I wanted a tach but didn't want to spend too much money on it. After reading the reviews for the less expensive ones ($20-$30), I decided to purchase one. After hearing that they didn't read correctly or were slow/laggy for $30, I decided to spend a little more and get a good brand name like this one. br>br>This device is fantastic; it reads in real time. On a 1991 S10, the time is accurate as far as I can tell. The one quirk I didn't expect is that the needle doesn't always return to zero when the vehicle is turned off. The last reading is usually retained. The tach needle stays at 900 RPM even if the vehicle is parked and the key is quickly turned off all the way. The needle will drop back to zero if you slowly turn off the vehicle, turning the key from ON to ACC, then to OFF. So, if you quickly turn off the ignition, I'm guessing it has something to do with the power being abruptly interrupted, preventing the electric motor in the tach from sending it to zero first.
After replacing the motor in my 1985 Chevy K10, I put it in. The installation was simple and appears to be functional. With the help of a SnapOn timing light, I double-checked the accuracy. They appear to be on the same page when it comes to RPMs. br>Gauge is made of plastic, but it is well-made. It came with clear installation instructions, making installation and setup a breeze. V8 was already set up on mine.
Tachometer is fantastic! With the Toyota 22R, it performs admirably. br>br>Mounting this item is difficult due to the screws' tendency to strip out material. Industrial Velcro is used to attach it to the dash, which is more secure than screws. br>br>After a while, the pivoting hinge between the bracket and the tachometer loosens and needs to be tightened. To keep it in place, use thread lock.
For many years, I drove my 1975 Bronco with an old Sunpro Supertach2. The tach began to fail, and this appeared to be a good value for money option. br>br>It was incredibly simple to set up, and it reads extremely accurately, especially considering I have an EFI with a handheld computer receiver that can also display RPM. While driving, I double-checked and found it to be fairly accurate. The light it emits is also appealing to me.
It is well-made and appears to be of good quality. It appears to be correct. Excellent value for money; ideal for a daily driver or project car. It's not something I'd put on my Vette. The instructions were useless for my Toyota truck with a 3VZE engine, which has an ignitor ignition system that is not covered in the instructions. Sent e- My request for assistance was sent to the website per their instructions, but it was ignored - The first time I ordered a tach, it was lost in the mail. I had to return it and place a new order. The second option is very effective. In the end, If you require assistance, disregard it.
I don't usually write reviews, but this one was necessary. Sorry, your return window has closed and you are out of luck, I was told. The tachometer is mounted according to the instructions, which are at best ambiguous! The tachometer lights up, but the gauge does not move. Before calling, I looked into all of my options, including speaking with a variety of mechanics. Even so, I have a nice dash ornament that lights up at night on my desk. I could have come up with some better ideas for my 79 F150, but I guess I'll have to wait until I get a new tach. Just a huge letdown.
It took me about 2 hours to put it together, but I have a 30 year old truck, so everything has to be hidden. I was grateful for the display in this thing right away after ripping it. For the first 1000 rpm, it increases smoothly, but after that, instead of being smooth, it begins to jump. The majority of twitching occurs between the ages of 2 and 2. 5k- I spend the majority of my driving time in this area. I'll go over all of the connections again to make sure I didn't make any errors. Otherwise, good value for money; my only complaint is the excessive use of plastic!.
