Questions & Answers

Is this engine compatible with a Ford Explorer 4 from the year 1998? 0 v6?

Each Hypertech model is designed to work with a specific engine, so double-check which one is compatible with yours. Only the 7 is programmed in the one I ordered. V6 gas cannot be used with a 3 liter diesel engine. To make sure you're getting the right product for your truck, go to Hypertech's website.

Is there anything else included?

For the past two years, the box has been in the console of my excursion. Aside from the programmer itself, there's an OBDII cable for reprogramming the vehicle computer and, I believe, a USB cable for connecting the programmer to your notebook or home computer. The first thing you'll be asked to do is update the programmer's software load - Then you'll need to reprogramme your car. It's simple to do over the internet. This was the "safest" method of waking up my 7-year-old. Excursion with 3 liters of diesel fuel.

Is it true that it boosts torque and horsepower even when using regular octane gas?

It most certainly does.

Is it possible to set the idle rpms on this unit?

The rev limiter can be adjusted according to Hypertech part 42500.

For over 3500 miles, I've been using and testing features in real-world driving
4/5

Definitely a good investment. Completely adhere to the directions. Patience is required. Install software on your laptop or computer. If your first attempt at programming fails, upgrade the program parameters according to the instructions. The software provided is extremely user-friendly and simple to operate. Tuner upgrades/updates can also be done quickly and easily over the internet. The only feature I don't like is that the tuner won't let me choose anything other than "premium" fuel if I want to go faster than the stock 107 mph or the next higher 116 mph. As a result, if you want to max out the top speed governor, you can't use regular gas at all. It should be ethanol-free and have a pH range of 96-100. It needs to be at least 100 octane or it will ping like a son of a bitch. All of the other features work as expected, and there is a noticeable difference in mid-range power, shift firmness, shift points, and converter lockup. With a very mild tune on my unmodified Merc and a pcm reset, I also experienced a significant increase in long-distance gas mileage. This little handheld does everything and retains the stock parameters if you need to take it to the dealer for repair, just plug it in and rewrite. Initial tune when changing from stock takes about 40 minutes. There are no codes or a check engine light when this vehicle is turned on. And the top speed limit available for my bodystyle is insane, and most likely exceeds what an unmodified car is capable of mechanically. Keep an eye on things. Over 120 mph, protective tires, torque converters, and driveshafts are required.

For my Ford F250, I'm looking for a 7
4/5

I didn't see many reviews that addressed my concerns, so I'm posting in case anyone else has the same concerns. To begin, I'm blown away by the results of increased power. Because I didn't fill up the tank before lifting truck 6, it's difficult to gauge fuel economy. 5 inches, plus the addition of 37-inch mud tires. It fell by about two percent. It gets 3 mpg, but I believe it could get a lot more if it didn't have this. I couldn't figure out if this would affect the size of my tires on my 2002 Ford F-150. Anywhere in the vicinity of 250 IT DOES. So far, everything has gone smoothly; I would give it a five-star rating if it weren't for the fact that it requires an update before I can use it, and it only supports PCs rather than MACs. I had to ask my neighbors if I could install things on theirs. They don't support MAC, which is a real shame. Aside from that, it's a blast to listen to.

It did not work on my 2000 Excursion XLT 6, and I received poor customer service
3/5

8 gas. Jay, the customer service representative, was unhelpful and rude to me. I wouldn't recommend trying this product because it's made so cheaply. First, you'll need your own power adapter, which, given the price of this flimsy unit, should have come included. As I previously stated, this unit is of poor quality, and the company identification sticker on the front fell off as soon as I took it out of the box. I was immediately struck by how light and flimsy it is. Do yourself a favor and look for another solution, as I will.

This is one of my favorite things to do with my seven-year-old son
5/5

This is one of my favorite things to do with my seven-year-old son. 3 Powerstroke: Using level 3 gives you an extra 100 horsepower and 165 torque, which you can feel in the seat of your pants. On level ground, you should get at least 20 MPG without putting too much effort into the pedal.

Because of the majority of positive reviews, I decided to take a chance
5/5

I purchased a used truck that was still in good condition. I must admit that I was hesitant to order this product, but I decided to take a chance due to the overwhelming positive feedback. I bought an older truck, but it was new to me, and it didn't have quite enough power for me, so I decided to try this. My truck is a 2001 Ford F150 with a 5. 8 liter V8 engine. 4 V8. I was done with the set up in less than 20 minutes after plugging it into my truck. After that, I went for a drive and was blown away by the immediate increase in power. I only changed the fuel type to regular and haven't fiddled with the other options yet, but I'm getting bigger tires this weekend and will update more. Next, I'm going to fill up with premium to see how much more power I can get. In terms of gas mileage, I haven't had it long enough to know, but in my opinion, this was an expensive product that was well worth the money.

It does exactly what it says
4/5

It was well worth the money. I bought it to re-calibrate my speedometer. It will do all of this and more, just as it claims. Recalibrate on is accomplished in my case by a small gear in the transmission rather than the vehicle's PCM. Do your research first to ensure that the speedo calibration is performed on your car's computer. I did, however, program the shift points and rev limits using the unit. It made a significant difference in the car's performance.

It performed admirably for the purpose for which I purchased it
4/5

It was ideal for recalibrating my speedometer following a gear shift and the installation of slightly larger tires. I didn't use the max program because I wasn't going to premium gas, but econ did help with second gear sluggishness, and the truck now accelerates well after 190,000 miles of hard towing.
