Gasket was so bad, I felt people should know the truth so they can save My harmonic balancer was sanded then cleaned in accordance with the instructions provided by Mr. Gasket, but once I tried to install the tape, it barely adhered. Immediately I noticed the timing marks were wearing off as my fingers rubbed over it to push it down. In the event that I hadn't stopped, it would have been easy to wipe them off entirely. It doesn't look like the timing marks will last long in an engine compartment, if they easily rub off my finger with light pressure. The attachment will also fail to remain. It took me a long time to find the right timing tape, but I finally found it for less than half the cost and it is excellent. It is at least five times thicker than the MSD timing tape, and sticks like glue when you apply it. The device even has a plastic coating that protects it from falling. Invest in superior timing tapes from MSD and save money. It is easy to see the difference in quality in my pictures.
This is a simple procedure for me because I am old. I scrubbed the balancer with scotch brite and acetone, let it dry, attached the tape, waited a day, then glued the tape to both sides of the balancer using.
Follow the directions to clean and apply. It seems to accomplish its purpose.
