With it, you will be able to determine what ratio of air/fuel is suitable for your engine. There are one or two components 1) that are necessary for optimal performance/efficiency but are not necessary for a carb rebuild. To accomplish that, you need a rebuild kit and some good carb cleaner, such as Mack's, which you can purchase from
The carburetor came with it, but I do not know
In order to use the 1407, you need kit #1480.
I can use it with my 1406 carburetor

I ordered this kit in order to upgrade the carb from 1406 to 1405 standard. Nevertheless, that is as far as it can go. To bridge the gap between the 1405 base curve and higher performance, we need another kit. I am very pleased with my 1406 which has now become a 1405 It really brought the engine to life, no hesitation when accelerating. I have updated For your information While doing many miles on the Hot Rod Power Tour, my mileage went from 23 MPG to 15 MPG when I went to the larger jet, smaller rod. The smaller jet appeared to produce some more HP, but my mileage dropped to 15 MPG while doing many miles. When I got a chance, I changed back to my original rods and jets (very rich just cruising). As per instructions, I had to open the idle screws 1/4 turn beyond their recommended values, and this nearly eliminated the stumble upon acceleration to almost zero. As long as fuel is $3, I'll stay where I am. The price of one gallon of gas is 54 cents.
There is one thing I dislike about this setting I have to purchase a second set. Stock 1406 carbs come with 98 jets, but the stock 1498 carbs come with 108 jets. Do we have stock for the 998s? I cannot see the point of having two sets. 98's when a leaner number jet would be more practical and allow me to be more flexible. Even though I may not be able to be sure the one set of leaner jets will provide me with what I need, I will probably return it.
My engine pulled a little better after I installed the springs and rods a size smaller. It is the calibration kit that enables these carbs to perform as they are designed The Edelbrock carbs are often cited as bad by a lot of people. It has been running fine on at least 20 engines in various configurations, and so far I don't understand why it is failing. They don't know how to tune the Edelbrock carbs, so "haters" are just too stupid to use them.
This price seems like an incredibly high price to me, whether it is due to the fact that they are Edlebrock or not. There are only spring jets and metering rods in the system.
My 1406 carburetor is tuned with this kit because it contains all the parts I expected. Although I would prefer Edelbrock to make a one with more rods and jets, this one is fine. Has all springs, a few sets of rods, and a couple of sets of.
I just opened the box as I needed it now. Some metering rod retaining springs, hair pin clips, as well as jets are missing. I don't think the box has been opened either. It's a shame.
I found everything I needed in this part.
Things like this should not be allowed to enter the system. It was a great deal for the price paid.
