I'll keep it brief and to the point. I'm a very intelligent person. The oil laboratory in Waterloo, Iowa, has provided us with some in-depth information. My Polaris PS4 oil was tested and a sample was sent in. With only 15 hours, it shears down to under a 40 weight, indicating that it is a very poor quality oil, as I previously stated. Never again will I purchase polaris oils. Lubetech, a Minnesota-based company, produces them. They've recently been exposed as being very shady, and non-biased oil laboratories do not recommend them. I strongly advise you to purchase Amsoil oil because it is not biased against Polaris. They want to create a superior oil that does exactly what it claims to do. They also have no qualms about posting their oil specs on the internet. Another reason you won't find Polaris oil specs online is that it would scare a lot of people away and they'd realize their oil isn't up to par. Bottom line, Polaris oil gives your machine a death date and does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Polaris instructions call for replacing the oil plug washer, which was not included in this kit, as well as removing the oil screen from the line leading to the oil tank and replacing the tape or gasket there, which was also not included in this kit. I expect an "Oil change kit" to match what's in the service manual when I buy one.
I used up all of my oil. Pre- I had filled my filter and was ready to turn on the engine, but I couldn't seem to find a thread. After a few failed attempts, I decided to use my old filter to see what was going on and was able to catch a thread with ease. The new OEM filter does not have threads upon closer inspection. Now I'm stuck with my Polaris Sportsman until I can get a replacement filter.
Otherwise, I recommend that you look into some of the market's better AND less expensive options.
Everything you need was included, but the packaging was a letdown. FedEx delivered the package. A black bag with two loose bottles of oil and an unboxed filter was found inside the FedEx box. It does not come in a boxed kit, as shown in the image. It seemed a little shady.
I'll play along with Polaris and use their oil and filters, but it won't be cheap! I'm sure someone else makes the oil and filters and then Polaris slaps their name and price on them, but I'll spend a little more just to be sure and use the correct oil and filter. Products arrived quickly and at a lower cost than if purchased from a dealer.
For the kit to be complete, the Drain Plug washer should be included (the manual states that it should be changed along with the oil). Other than that, it's exactly what you're looking for. KWinTN KWinTN KWinTN KWinTN KWinTN KWinTN KWinTN KWin.
For this specific kit, you'll have to pay 00! What a rip-off! off. I'm so glad I found this item here; I'll never service or buy another service component from a dealership again. The item was delivered in perfect condition - two bottles of engine oil, an oil filter, and an o-ring were delivered to me. ring. This kit includes everything you'll need to change your oil.
