I own both a Beemer and a Harley-Davidson, and I only use these oil filters on both of them. I like that instead of using an awkward oil filter tool, I can simply remove them with a socket wrench. If K& If the N didn't have that feature, I wouldn't buy them because oil filters are pretty basic, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. "Can I get away with it?" is the difference for me. " as well as K N smacks you square in the face with it.
164! Guys and gals, I've been reading a lot of reviews that say "oil filter space on BMW K-series is tight. " "The oil filter on the BMW F-series sticks out," and "the oil filter on the BMW F-series sticks out. " series, putting it at risk of damage. " While the BMW OEM filter is subject to these criticisms, the K&N filter is not. All competitors, including N 160, should be aware of K's presence. A model KN-N is also available from N. 164 (available on Amazon as well). The KN- The number 164 corresponds to the KN- Except for the KN-160, there are 160. I've been using the KN-164, which is about an inch shorter and helps with the tight fit and filter protrusion issues. For years, I've been running 164 on my (second generation) BMW K1200/1300GTs. KN- has partnered with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to develop a new product The shifter bracket must be removed for 160 and competitor filters - This is not the case with the KN- 164! The nut is welded to the end of it as well.
Except for the gimmick of supposedly being able to remove it with a 17mm wrench, I expect it to be a good filter. br>br>The nuts should be made of talcum powder because the corners rounded off and epically failed even with the smallest amount of effort. To get it off, I had to use my reliable channel locks. br>br>If the ease with which it can be removed is all that matters to you, look elsewhere. Apart from that, I have no complaints and will purchase again; however, I do not anticipate it being quickly removed from the market.
From what I've seen so far, it appears to be a good filter. I'll update this review if I notice a rapid color change when compared to the bmw mahle filter. Someone else has mentioned it, so if that's the case, you can definitely say the k. In terms of microns, n does not filter as effectively as mahle filter. We'll have to wait and see. I enjoy not having to fiddle with the filter wrench. No interference with the bmw 16 r 1200 gs (LC).
I would purchase this item again. I had no trouble installing this on my 2009 F800GS. Threads were smooth, and the filter was well-packaged, with the filter gasket securely sealed in plastic and lightly oiled. Although removing the old BMW filter was not difficult, the nut on the end should make it easier to remove.
It's perfect for my BMW R1200RT motorcycle and comes at a great price!.
Can't . For my K1600GTL, I ordered the one they recommended. With the nut on, it's impossible to shift gears. I needed to get a grinder on it as soon as possible.
K & N filters are synonymous with high-end construction. The ease with which the nut welded to the cap can be removed and replaced makes a significant difference.
