The construction was so poorly done or the quality control (if there was any) was terrible. Despite being completely misaligned, the rubber cap and fitting of the paper filter are completely bent. To be honest, at first I thought it was made to fit in the airbox this way. Not at all. There's nothing wrong with the construction, just piss poor. I don't think it is worth even $10, nor is the hassle of returning it worth the hassle.
The prefilter should also be purchased, as well as the sock. If you buy this one, the sock around it will keep it clean, since it is white when new. Even though they are expensive, they still offer a better deal than buying a new car. It's also a good idea to change the oil and filter. Upon arrival, the filter was a perfect fit for my 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500. The original sleeve can be used as well over this filter! Simply rinse it and fit it over the filter and you are good to go!.
It is dangerous to use this and could damage your vehicle. The clamp flange is tapered in this photo (there should be no taper), which makes the hose clamp move off of the hose. In such a case, the air filter will come loose allowing dirt to enter the carburetor and engine, which will cause major problems.
The filter is NOT part of the original equipment manufacturer's product line. As for the filter mount ring, it will fit, but it is half the diameter and half the area of the original. I would think that it would fit, but to say it is a replacement would be funny.
