My old muffler was literally crumbling to pieces due to rust; the most difficult part was removing the old one and clearing away the rusted welded bits stuck to the rest of the exhaust; the rest was a piece of cake. It was a breeze to put on. Only a smidgeon of oil was used. I even managed to get my old tail pipe (which had rusted and fallen off about a year ago) to fit right in. Now I'm back to having a quiet muffler and a tail pipe. The Ranger doesn't really need the support bars to keep the muffler in place (the originals rusted right off my old one and it was still pretty sturdy), but I ended up welding the old ones on to this new one just for added security. However, it would be nice if it came with some sort of support system. In any case, securing metal beneath a vehicle isn't difficult.
Edit - I discovered the chat room. The Amazon rep responded to my question. Thank you very much. br>br>To the rest of the world, the muffler appears to be in perfect condition, with the correct gauge of metal. According to my assessment, this is 100% OEM quality. If that's what you want to do, I wouldn't hesitate to weld it in. br>br>I ended up ordering the wrong one due to the usual lack of product dimensions. I'm looking for something with a body length of around 30 inches.
Remove the old one and replace it with a new one. I needed to get some coupling and clamps from the local hardware store. To hang it on the frame, I used a pipe hanging strap. It's a little McGyver, but it gets the job done. enables me to continue on a shoestring budget. It appears to be a heavier gauge than the cheap universal one sold at the auto parts store for a higher price.
A friend bought a less expensive muffler for me. He had to buy an extension adapter piece as well because it was shorter. As a result, the cost was roughly the same as this unit. At the inlet and outlet pipe ends, the old muffler actually came loose. br>I noticed that the inlet and outlet pipes on this muffler are spot weld onto a return flange rather than being pressed into the main unit. br>It's a lot quieter, and there's no discernible difference in engine performance.
On a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT, it works perfectly.
For the price, this is a great muffler. I removed the OEM muffler and it fit perfectly. Ext cap 4 liter 4x4 Ford Ranger 2001.
Mufflers are cost-effective and silent. Due to the salt in Michigan winters, they only last about a year, but I'm sure they last much longer in salt-free states.
There was nothing I didn't like about it because it did the job and it did the job well, and it's working out great. Thanks a lot, and the price was very reasonable, and I just wanted to say thank you, and I'd come back and bite again if I had to.
