This item is used to replace a rusted resonator. On my 2006 Lancer sport, there were two of them, and the one closest to the catalytic converter, which resembles it, was very badly rusted and was much more so than the rest of the vehicle. There is a 20 percent improvement in sound and it has drastically reduced the amount of drone and noise I was getting, as some have mentioned. It sounds sportier when I lay into it, and that's my favorite part. Getting my ticket in less than five minutes behind the wheel was my first goal on the first day I tried it out. As a result of the interior drone being extremely loud and bothersome on my 2016 Veloster Turbo, I purchased this for the intake, downpipe, and full exhaust system.
