Questions & Answers

Is it possible for me to use my mild to wild switch? 2006 Z06?

No, your switch will not be used on the Borla exhaust; it sounds great, but it's not the exhaust for you if you want to be quiet on occasion.

Selected User Reviews For Borla 11822 Rear-Section Exhaust System for Corvette C6 ZO6/ZR1

After doing some research and discovering that you can make extremely good power numbers with the stock exhaust, I ordered this system
4/5

In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have done so. It does, however, have a very pleasant sounding exhaust. The car appears to be moving more quickly. We installed all of the supporting mods at the same time, so who knows what the exhaust alone added. br>br>Installation was a pain. Before attempting to install on a z06, I would strongly advise doing some research on the subject. My knowledge of automobiles is adequate. I used to be a technician many years ago. Normally, you simply disconnect a few brackets and pull out the stock exhaust. It took several hours to complete this. Fitting the exhaust was a big part of it. The car was a pain to work on in part. To get this off, you'll have to take off a good chunk of the rear suspension. 2 sway bar bolts must be removed, and 2 struts must be dropped. evade the use of an EVAP sensor Before doing it yourself like I did, I'd suggest reading Corvetteforums or watching videos on YouTube. br>br>Some of the fitment issues were due to the car's tight design, while others were due to the exhaust itself. The pipes from the exhaust that go over the rear suspension and connect to the headers did not have great fitment, both on the end connecting with the American Racing Headers, which could be either manufacturer, and the end attaching to the mufflers of their own exhaust. When off the car, the pipes slide into the mufflers easily, but you can't get a straight on angle while under the car, which caused the problem. It didn't help that the muffler inlet on the driver's side was dented; I'm assuming this was due to shipping and not Borla's fault, as the instructions call for mounting the mufflers to the hangers and then feeding the pipes in. We couldn't do it this way, so we used a jack to hold it in place a little lower than the hangers, then threaded the pipes together. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with the sound and the way it feels, but I wouldn't do it again. I originally stated that I would keep my stock parts in the event that I desired to return to stock. But after this headache, I'm not sure it's worth it, haha.

I'm giddy with delight! The Borla Ataks that I recently ordered and installed on my 2008 Z06 are fantastic! Although my welds were fine, I agree with everything Eric said in his review; what I like about the Borla exhaust is the higher pitch compared to, say, the Magnaflow exhaust, and having the h-pipe
5/5

In between shifts and when decelerating on my Z06, I get the back pressure gurgle, snap, and pop. I was worried that they were too loud at first! They just echoed the cars next to me in the middle lane taking off from a stop light, and there was no way to accelerate quietly. They've been on for about a week and are starting to build up carbon deposits in the chambers, and the sound is a little (very little) mellower, and they scream when I turn it up really loud. love it! When it came to drones on the highway, the Borla team did an excellent job of managing the resonance. B took a look at the Corsa after seeing it. B and MagnaFlow, I couldn't be more pleased with the Borla Atak exhaust, which, as another reviewer put it, "comes as close to straight pipe exhaust as possible. " " They are, indeed! If these testimonials aren't enough to persuade you, watch the Borla's Bondurant C6 Corvette video on YouTube, which compares the three systems available for the C6. Please keep in mind that the video does not do these systems justice in terms of sound quality. br>br>I have to give the seller a thumbs up as well. They came with the standard 5-star rating, which I requested. They arrived in 3 days, well packaged and with instructions, after an 8-day shipping period.

Self-installed, aggressive / loud In a nutshell, the following is a summary of the situation: br>In Borla's lineup, the ATAK is the most aggressive
4/5

On my 2008 Z06, I installed an "over the axle" exhaust. The note is AMAZING, as well as VERY LOUD. While I accelerated aggressively through a tunnel, a couple of friends followed me. "It would bleed their ears if it was any louder," they agreed. If you want to improve the sound of your Z06 or ZR-V, this is the kit for you. If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then this is most likely not the best option for you. If you're an enthusiast looking for the most aggressive and badass sounding exhaust with that deep American rumble, however, you've come to the right place. Then this item should be on your short list, as detailed review information is provided below. Drone - br>br>Drone - br>br>Drone - br>br> This system significantly reduces the obnoxious drone produced by the OEM exhaust system. The drone has been reduced by approximately 85% in my opinion. BUT MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THIS IN MIND! This is a loud exhaust, and while the annoying drone is nearly gone, you will still hear the engine note through the exhaust when cruising down the highway. Please don't confuse this with the annoying drone that seems to reverberate endlessly through the cabin. When compared to the OEM system, I find it easier to talk on the phone while driving at 70 mph on the highway with the ATAK system. It isn't, however, deafeningly quiet. I enjoy the sound of the engine while cruising, but if you prefer it muted, Borla's S-Series might be a better option. Systems based on type or touring. br>br>Quality - br>br>Quality - br>br>Quality - Regrettably, I had to return the first system I was given (-). 1 Star). The four tips were welded together in a HORRIBLE manner. Please don't think I'm a perfectionist who measures to the nearest 1/64 of an inch - I'm not. The tips were crooked, rotated off center, uneven, and so on. This isn't the case at all. The first system I received should never have left the factory, in my opinion. Despite this, the transaction was completely free and painless for me. A new system was delivered by Amazon in just two days! ) and covered the cost of shipping back. br>br>Installation - I give Amazon customer service an A because the replacement system I received was almost perfect. br>br> Do not attempt to install yourself if you do not own a lift. Borla's system is divided into two sections, as shown in the photo: The muffler section and the pipes that run over the axle. Each OEM muffler is a SINGLE ASSEMBLY that mounts to the back of the axle. You can't get the car high enough to swing each OEM muffler assembly down and around the rear axle without a lift. You must cut off the OEM system if you insist on installing without a lift (as I did). I made a "How To Install" guide, which you can find on the Z06Vette or Corvette forums. br>br>Aesthetics - The tips on this Borla system don't appeal to me very much. Many other aftermarket exhausts (including the OEM) have better-looking tips, in my opinion. The majority of those systems are also more expensive, and while the appearance isn't bad, it isn't as good as higher-priced systems. I didn't make my decision based on how I looked. After listening to a number of different aftermarket systems, I decided that this system had the best sound for my tastes. br>br>Cracking / Popping - When you let go of the gas pedal on the OEM system, you might hear some "popping" or "crackling. " On my Z06, the middle section of the exhaust is an "H-shaped" design. Pipe" (later Z06's / ZR-1) that exacerbates this phenomenon The number one has an "X-" in the middle of it. "Pip" in the middle, which significantly reduces popping). If you've got an H-, you're in good shape. After installing the ATAK, the popping in the pipes will be much more noticeable. Some people enjoy the popping / crackling sound (it sounds racy), while others dislike it. This is something you should be aware of before making a purchase. For those of us who have older Z06 and ZR-equipped vehicles, Borla sells an X-card with the number 1 on it. It's available separately or as part of a set with this ATAK exhaust (search Borla 140422 for more information). br>br>Finally, consider the following: After listening to a variety of exhaust systems for the Z06, I decided that Borla's sound was the best fit for me; the system is very loud and SOUNDS AMAZING! If you enjoy a deep American rumble and want to be heard before being seen, this is the band for you. The Borla ATAK is an excellent addition to your Corvette Z06 or ZR-Vette. Borla made a rare blunder with the poorly welded system, in my opinion. Borla's customer service, based on what I've seen on the Corvette Forums (though I've never had to deal with them directly), appears to be excellent. br>br>Bottom Line:br>If you want your Z06 or ZR-based vehicle to have that really loud American rumble, this is the engine for you. 1 This is an excellent option.

Five out of five stars

With no drone, it's insanely loud. This exhaust is as close to a straight pipe exhaust as you can get.
