As early as this summer, the rear-most pipe hanger rusted off and I ordered this to replace it. The threading was straightforward and I had no problems keeping the connection tight. The product has now been installed for at least two months, and although I typically check the thread tightness periodically based on some negative comments, I have not been able to find any On my way to work from my rural home, I navigate a washboarded, dirt road every single day. I have so far had no problems with this site!.
An installation of a Gibson SFT muffler on the aFe exhaust on my QX80 was performed several months ago by a local muffler shop. The water in the tank had been drained, but had not been refilled The mechanics forgot to weld on a hangar to the inlet side of my muffler when they changed the case fluid in my truck. I was pleased with how easy it was to install. The only thing I needed to do was trim off the threaded rod after bolting everything down on the hangar. There were some reviews that complained about the nut(s) backing out, so I added some red threadlock for extra security.
The exhaust brackets on my 1970 Chevelle needed to be replaced as I swapped the exhaust. There was a custom made bracket for the old exhaust that was welded to the clamps, so I needed to replace it. It helped that the brackets were adjustable, as I have never done a job like this before. The process did not require cutting, welding or anything like that. Then tighten the nut once the height has been set. For such a small thing, it's more practical to do it at home rather than going to an exhaust shop. Anybody in need of a custom hanger for their exhaust will definitely benefit from this.
With a 3 inch clamp I bought at Auto Zone, I was able to use the bracket and hanger. I also had to purchase a collar to fill in the gap since the hanger is too small to fit into a factory hanger.
A vertical threaded rod remains in place. This heavy-duty construction is built to last. Due to the loosening of the vertical threaded rod, the tailpipe moves a lot and risks loosing the nuts. It is very difficult to tighten these nuts on the vertical threaded rod enough to prevent them from falling off. Adding my own second nut to the top and bottom will hopefully lock them down and if not, I will try locking them into place with a lock-nut A tight fit.
Despite liking the concept, the execution leaves much to be desired. Considering how light it is, this clamp has a very small clamping force. Without even attempting to do so, I stripped it. It is important that the U-110 is upgraded To handle a little more torque, make the bolt a little larger in diameter. Moreover, I have a vision that anything tacked down will probably not stay that way. I may have to redo I did however find it a lot easier to hang my universal exhaust, when I had to remount it The customer uses OEM hangers and locations without any knowledge of stainless steel welding.
In the previous owner's renovation, they had the exhaust system reworked (flowmaster, sounds great) but the straps had broken, so the pipes bounced. From my local parts store, I purchased some "universal" straps, but it became very evident that they would not work once I got under the truck. Although I didn't know of my options, I came across an image of these while looking up the best way to make it, and realized right away that this is what I needed (the bent metal piece held the hanger in place still existed from the old hanger). These were easy to install and it took me just a few minutes to have them in place. Definitely a nice and secure web environment My truck is well protected with this product, which is well made and will certainly last. It would be a good idea to.
Just be sure not to clamp two pipes together the clamps are not designed for that, they are for replacing.
