COMP Cams Hi-Tech Roller Race Timing Sets feature premium quality gears. The camshaft gear is made of cast iron, while the crankshaft sprocket is made of billet steel that has been induction hardened.

Hi-Tech Roller Race Timing Sets have three keyways on the crankshaft sprocket, which are designed to help ensure the best performance. The camshaft is installed with zero degrees of advance in the middle keyway, while the other two keyways allow for 4 degrees of advance or retard, which is essential for anyone who degrees in their camshafts.

This true double roller chain is designed to handle street and race applications without loosening up, and it comes pre-stretched and heat-treated from the factory. Is it possible to use this in a 1985 Corvette with a L98 engine?

It will, in fact.

Someone has looked over the timing set and stated that it is not suitable for roller cams. Is this the case?

It will not fit a roller SBC cam from the factory. It will go well with a retro-styled home. However, you should use a hydraulic roller. A factory roller cam will fit the 3136.

Will a 74 sbc 400 work with this?

It will, in fact.

What's the difference between a factory roller cam and a retro-fitted roller cam? Will it fit an 84 Chevy 350 engine with retro-fit cam? do you have a roller?

A cam retaining plate is used on factory roller cams. This is for a camshaft that has a cam button and a thrust plate.

The gears are well-machined and appear to be durable, and the chain is already installed. It was easy to get on and into place because it was stretched and fit perfectly snug! Anything Comp Cam! I'll always be a fan! This 3100 set is far superior to the 2100 and represents a significant upgrade for a small price difference. You get to upgrade without breaking the bank and use a very trusted and reliable name for a fraction of the price of the cheaper brands. It's definitely worth the sleepless nights you'll save worrying about whether your timing set will hold up over time and feel safe knowing you'll get that 100k miles and more before having to do it again.

In the sbc 350 casting 10066036, the chain slack is perfect

I originally purchased a 2100 timing chain kit, but the chain that came with it was far too tight. I returned it and bought this 3100 because it appeared to be a low-cost chain. The clearancing block was never mentioned in either of the kits' instructions (except for the chain with 2100). with 3100 for the chain and cam sprocket). The chain on this 3100 is larger and appears to be a much better chain with the word "USA" on it. On rollers like the 2100, it's a true roller chain with no seam. It is also pre-stretched. On the motor I was working on, there was just the right amount of slack. The "GM" logo is on the cam sprocket.

Timing set for Comp Cam 3100
