In order to fit the new mount on the left engine bracket of the 96 XJ, the old one had to be removed and ground. I had problems getting the mounting plates to line up with the block, which I fixed by loosening all bolts that secured the plates to the block. After that, I was able to line up the rest. The whole experience was a bit annoying. My recommendation would be to simply get the urethane inserts for the stock mounts if I were to do it again. I notice a lot more vibration in the gears, but my jeep is rather old so it's not a big deal. It was going to be done on the hoist at the office, but it was easier to do it on the ground since you spend a good amount of time working on the top side of the vehicle as well as under it. Using only two 4x4s and the screw type jack out of my pickup to raise the engine up was a breeze.
I liked how it looked and worked on the Jeep TJ 98. When I accelerate, my engine does not pull or shake as it used to. Yes, I agree! In order to install this kit, I used two car jacks and a piece of wood underneath the oil pan to raise the engine. Removing all bolts and hex nuts (take care not to damage the wire). My method for installing the new bearings was to lubricate the sides of the bushings (to make them slide in easily), then to add the front bolt and rear hex nut, then use a screwdriver to align the holes It took me about five minutes to complete this task For each side, you should allow 7 minutes.
My recommendation is to clean and reuse your bolts/nuts if they are still in good condition. You will probably have to buy some Grade 8 hardware from Lowe's to get everything matching.
My 93 XJ is no longer vibration-free at traffic lights due to these stiff shock absorbers. The noise throughout the vehicle is also loud, making my whole Jeep feel like it is vibrating and squeaking at the same time. These things are rigid, which means that even the startup companies are rigid, since there is no give or flexibility! There was much less noise and smoother movement on my rise. The OEM mounts are definitely the way to go. If you are looking for your Jeep to sound, and feel like the old motel beds where you like to drop quarters for a good laugh, then these are the perfect rubbers Consider this review if you're not already in the know.
I do not know how an automatic would be. I enjoy it a lot now it feels like a new Jeep.
The engine is a 0L four-wheel drive automatic. These motor mounts had been installed as I had developed a crack in the exhaust manifold and had heard that worn motor mounts could be the cause. I noticed in this process that the old mounts had a crack on them when I swapped out the manifold and mounts. Although I had to remove a little bit of the rubber to be able to slide them into the bracket, it was relatively simple to install. I found the fix to be straightforward and it didn't require any additional effort. As soon as it was installed, I was delighted with its looks and functions. The ride was a bit cooler than the last time I rode it. I think it was worth the money, and I would recommend you to others. There won't be any more cracked manifolds for me to replace.
The JKS 2 is really nice. After I purchased the Jeep, I lifted its body by 25 inches and lowered its motor mount 1 inch to get rid of the ugly transfer case drop it had. It is nice to have the JKS kit. I was able to install easily. In the process of doing the installation, I noticed that my 17 year old OEM rubber motor mounts were cracked and split. Assembling the jeep and driving it for three weeks with the broken motor mounts was no problem for me. While I was dealing with that issue, I noticed that these stock motor mounts, though not totally broken, were the reason for a lot of really bad issues including a knocking sound on take off that was similar to one from front drive cars 'The Prothane mounts are large, strong and very well made. ' It was easy for them to install on top of the JKS budget spacer. By eliminating a whole array of noises beneath the hood, a lot of problems were solved. Look at those Prothane mounts! They look awesome. This is a nice design, and can be seen through the wheel well of the jeep. You can buy with confidence when you shop with us.
These are on the front plate of my newly restored 97 tj, and I am extremely pleased with the quality. The front plate appears to have a yellow chromate coating that prevents rust, which is a great feature!.
You need to adjust the trans mount as well, and you may want to look at your Ujoints as well, to take into account the new.
