Racing Power Company R4958 Chrome Engine Oil Dipstick for Big Block Chevy

It took some bending and tweaking to get the mounting bracket to clear the headers and mount properly, which included adding a 3/4" spacer and a 1" longer bolt from the block. In order for it to read correctly for the oil level in my 1970 Chevelle SS 396/402, I had to cut 7/16" off the top of the tube. I was surprised at how few people had read their owners manuals to determine the proper oil level for their BBCs. A lot of oil is bad for an engine, and one Facebook user boasted about how his stock BBC could hold eight quarts of oil with his new filter. As a result, he's going to add three quarts more than GM suggests. In my opinion, this is an excellent dipstick for my vehicle. The low cost and quick delivery were well worth the time and effort required to get it to fit properly. I went to four different automotive suppliers in my city but couldn't find a suitable dipstick. So when I came across this one, I was ecstatic.

It was a little difficult to install because it required some bending. It's likely that the end will be shortened. br>br>Went on an 89 Mark IV 454 and the filter took 6qt 1qt to reach the full line.

Inserted the bolt into the bracket and pushed it in. Done and dusted.
