Yes, it'll work with any mech. As the blades protrude further forward, you can use a water pump if you have enough clearance.
Yes, I've got it running on a 55 with a radiator and a six-cylinder engine. Working with a shroud is great, but it moves a lot of air and is VERY loud- It might take some time to get used to, similar to supercharger whoosing.
It will work perfectly as long as your fan shroud has a diameter greater than 18". I have about 3/4" clearance and it is not a problem for me.
Yes, in a clockwise direction.

My air-conditioned 55 Belair has a big block that has been running a heavy duty 7 blade flex fan for the past 10 years; it cooled fine around town until the dreaded traffic jam, when the temperatures would begin to rise; I don't have the space for a clutch fan setup, so I chose this fan. It's noticeably louder, particularly at my cruising speed of 2200 rpm; by 3000 rpm, my exhaust has drowned out the sound. It's not the best time to test for overheating in northern Illinois, but it's clear that this fan pulls a lot more air through my trans cooler, ac condenser, and desert cooler radiator than my flex.
To be honest, I bought it for the low price to test airflow on a rather expensive Ford 428 CobraJet engine, which I planned to keep in the shop as a spare. I'm just going to leave it on because it's so well made and produces such a high CFM velocity. A tip of the hat to the manufacturer for producing such a high-quality product.
My application isn't particularly high-performing, but I liked how the alum handled it. If clearance is required, the blades can be bent. br>Because of my limited space, I needed a fan blade that was a little thinner.
It's a perfect fit for a Chevy 327 small block. On hot days, more air is needed to keep things cool. In addition, it aids the cooling system.
Fan that is extremely durable.
That's exactly what I needed to keep the temperature down in slow traffic during the scorching Arizona summers.
