Without the use of a drop mount, it does the job of adapting my new 2" steering column to the existing bracket under the dash. I was skeptical at first because many reviews claimed it was poorly laid out, but it is directional. The mounting holes lined up perfectly after I flipped it over. br>br>The car is a 1964 Chevrolet C- I'm not sure if this solution will work for everyone because the previous owner made some modifications with parts from a 1985 truck.
So, here's how it works. Although it's a great idea, the Amazon page fails to mention that it'll only fit GM cars from 1969 onwards. In fact, I contacted Flaming River and spoke with one of their representatives about the fitment years, but there were none listed on their website. Until I got in touch with you. The information was available the next day. This is a great piece for installing 2" steering columns on GM cars using the original mounting bracket, but you'll have to weld on similar brackets found on the original column for 68 and older. I'm hoping for a pre-69 adapter to be released. Because it's a high-quality product.
Welds and materials of poor quality. It's extremely dangerous. In most applications, it does not fit well and will need to be modified. I decided to look elsewhere and ended up ordering from a different brand, which I was much happier with.
It worked flawlessly on my 1972 LeMans, and I was able to mount it under my dash using my original bracket.
It performs as expected.
The item was well-packaged and fit my steering column perfectly.
