There's a hole in the middle that needs to be filled. It really works. My Camaro RS Automatic was built in 1997. I did it myself, but it does require a spacer to keep the drive shaft at the same height (and angle) as the original mount. Some people put washers under the mount and stack them. To go underneath the mount, I had a mechanic make a custom spacer on the lathe. I believe that stacking plates or getting a custom block for above the mount would be preferable, but I'm not sure. The car rumbles a lot more in third gear, especially at idle and at high speeds. Except for the plastic sleeves in the shifter, change in the change cup, the lid on the change cup, and the door locks, it doesn't bother me all that much. I can't stand the high-pitched rattle on all of these, but there are ways to avoid it.
This mount appears to be quite stiff. I don't have the engine out right now, so I haven't had a chance to properly test the mount, but my only complaint so far is that the bolts were slightly too large to fit through my cross member. I had to use a slightly larger drill bit and enlarge the hole in the cross member for an 84 Camaro with the T5.
This was purchased for my 1995 Firebird Formula, which had a partially torn tranny mount that caused a loud bang through the shifter at speeds greater than old lady levels. When I removed the old unit, I discovered that the stock one had been completely severed, not just partially torn. Now I can drive without fear of my tranny exploding as soon as I turn onto a busy street. It does transmit a little more vibration, which is to be expected. due to the fact that it is a more durable material It's actually connected now, but the bang is gone, and my tranny is safe. It feels like I'm sitting in a shaky massage chair when it's at idle, but I don't mind because this is a performance part, not a luxury part, and a big 350 ci v8 isn't known for its vibration-free operation. This, or the black version 3, is highly recommended. To reduce squeaking, the 1108g is graphite impregnated. I didn't realize there was a difference when I bought it, so I went with the red one because red is my favorite color.
It fits perfectly in my 93 Chevy suburban; the only issue is that the middle mount is about a half-inch off from the center mount on the actual car. Other than that, the transmission is perfectly stable.
I'm gradually replacing the bushings that are accessible. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to collect all of them. The ease of installation is determined by a number of factors.
Fit perfectly in my 1994 Chevrolet C1500 Vortec V6 single can. Because the bolts that came with it to connect it to the truck were too large, I had to re-use the old bolts, which worked perfectly. If that's your thing, it's a good buy with a nice look.
Like all of the other energy suspension components I've used, this one is of excellent quality and fits perfectly.
I installed it on my truck with motor mounts and have had no issues since.
