Is it possible to use these to set up shims as mock-up bearings? Is it possible to put them on and take them off easily?

Yes. They easily slip on and off the Carrier as you adjust the side-to-side shims and back-to-front shims. lash up against the pinion gear This is extremely useful. I was too lazy to make my own, so these were perfect!
